Retail Designer

Role Overview

The Retail Designer is responsible for preparing accurate engineering drawings, design layouts, and 3D visual presentations to support GMG's retail development projects. The role involves translating business requirements into detailed technical and creative outputs that align with GMG's brand standards. The role holder is expected to work closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure that all design elements are feasible, accurate, and aligned with project objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize AutoCAD and related software to prepare layouts, engineering drawings, and support documents based on design requirements and service requests.
  • Revise and update design layouts to identify inconsistencies and resolve potential issues in early design stages.
  • Create technical drawings showing multiple views, components, and system relationships, ensuring all revisions meet project and engineering specifications.
  • Develop 3D models, perspectives, and visual presentations throughout all project phases, ensuring timely delivery and visual accuracy.
  • Implement modifications and updates to visuals based on project feedback and evolving requirements.
  • Maintain consistent adherence to GMG's standards, templates, and protocols related to 2D and 3D design documentation.
  • Propose and support initiatives to enhance 3D modeling workflows and visualization quality to improve internal and external service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records of all project visuals, drawings, specifications, and correspondence for easy tracking and future reference.
  • Prepare and update manuals, technical notes, and instructional documents related to design processes and standards.
  • Coordinate with IT and technical teams to address any software related issues that impact design work or tools.
  • Support procurement and projects team by providing precise specifications, layouts, and finish details needed for vendor sourcing and construction.
  • Stay updated on retail design trends and innovations to bring new ideas and enhancements to store layouts and presentations.
Skills & Experience
  • Strong understanding of design and architectural concepts
  • Expertise in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and 3ds Max
  • Ability to produce and edit technical drawings and engineering layouts
  • Proficient in 3D modeling, rendering, and visual storytelling
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office tools
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to interpret engineering and architectural sketches
  • Good communication and influencing skills for cross functional coordination
