Retail Project Manager

Role Summary

The candidate should be a natural leader and have worked with reputable joinery manufacturing companies and the interiors industry (similar to Havelock One) for the last 8 years with experience in managing customs and retail installation projects.

As a Project Manager, the person must be self-driven with a high responsibility level; capable of effectively launching and managing multiple projects of different sizes from award of project and through the different stages of implementation to handover independently. Versatile and adaptive management of internal and external stakeholders is key. Communication skills are very important for the role, and the successful candidate will be a natural communicator and good articulator in both oral and written English.

The profile will be a naturally dependable member of the leadership team that is able to bring about improvement and measurable positive changes in output and efficiency over time.

The profile will be a team player, able to identify strengths and weaknesses in a situation and bring out the best of people in challenging situations.

Role Description

Project Kick-off :

  • Set up a kick-off meeting with relevant internal Havelock One departments and the appointed fit- out team. Where necessary, coordinate with the general contractor team to align project scope, timeline, and expectations

Site Assessment

  • If needed to be able to conduct initial site visits, perform surveys, take photographs, identify loading zones, and provide feedback to the Setting Out Manager (SOM) regarding any crucial dimensions or site-specific considerations

Technical Expertise

  • Utilize hands-on experience or expertise to carry out the setting out/marking of joinery equipment on-site if needed
  • Coordinate and address any technical queries posed by the client or general contractor team during the project kick-o? and the Mw manufacturing cycle

MW installation by thoroughly understanding the MW equipment throughout its lifecycle.

Project Management

  • and the project's work schedule, preferably using MS Projects, to ensure timelines are met
  • Generate daily/weekly site progress reports, including necessary photos, and submit them to the Project Manager (PM) and SOM for review
  • Manage multiple projects at various stages of development, independently prioritizing and executing tasks to meet deadlines and achieve objectives
  • Proactively manage ongoing projects, taking initiatives on tasks without requiring constant supervision or follow-ups

Communication And Coordination

  • Maintain effective communication and coordination with fit-out teams, factory personnel, and clients/client representatives daily. Relay any discrepancies to the line manager for quick resolution
  • Observe the installation process first-hand and report to the setting out team any adjustments needed to the MW equipment to facilitate future fit-out installations
  • Demonstrate high self-confidence and clear self-expression during client interactions, negotiations with client demands appropriately and handling high-pressure situations with composure
  • Effectively coordinate with fit-out teams, considering the full project scope when assigning tasks, and providing direct responses to on-site queries and issues

Travel And Flexibility

  • Willingness to travel to countries in the MENA region and beyond. Adapt to flexible working hours, including weekends, depending on travel and site plans as required

Experience

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum of five to eight years similar experience in a joinery manufacturing companies with experience in managing hospitality and entertainment projects

Skills

  • Proficient in verbal and written English
  • Ability to work with AutoCAD, Excel, Word, and MS Projects
  • Strong customer service skills, ensuring client satisfaction and addressing concerns promptly

Attributes

  • Sound knowledge of fabrication procedures and a wide understanding of joinery materials including timber, boards, veneers, laminates, hardware, fabrics, glass, stone, lighting etc are vital
  • An individual with high responsibility levels who takes ownership of matters, has good planning & time management capabilities, effective communicator and basically a flexible individual who can take decisions and make things happen in a large setup
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
