Risk and Oversight Manager, Retail Product UAE IWPB (STA - 7 Months)

The Role

In this role you will report directly to the UAE Head of Risk and Oversight and will be primary responsible for the management and oversight on Payment & Forex related Operational risks and lead the Operational Resilience programme for the UAE Retail business.

This role requires

  • ability to continually assess the Operational Risks associated with product design and delivery retail and wealth business.
  • identification, monitoring and testing of controls in all areas of emerging and residual risk across various risks, including Regulatory compliance, Legal risk, Financial Crime risk and Resilience risk including, data security, technology design and implementation across the teams supported.
  • understanding the risk associated with disruption of Important Business Services (Operational Resilience programme) for UAE Retail Products
  • Support in overseeing Risk management, control framework and governance standards for Retail Products.
Key Accountabilities

I this role you will be responsible for:

Impact on Business
  • Ensure that the initiatives design, delivery and operation are within HSBC's risk appetite, compliant with local and global regulatory requirements.
  • Align to bank's strategic objectives - while enabling safe, customer focused growth.
  • Design and establish a robust Digital Product governance framework in line with the risk governance framework.
  • Executing key governance responsibilities related to the Digital and Product life cycle including Transactional banking (Payments), Foreign Exchange ensuring Group and Regulatory requirements are met.
  • Management of open Helios issues/actions and dispensations raised in relation to the Retail, CIM and Digital business, ensuring resolution, timely closure and read across.
Customers / Stakeholders
  • Work in partnership with various Retail Product CIM, IWS Products and Digital management teams engaging SMEs to develop, maintain and enhance risk and compliance controls that support business objectives and risk appetite.
  • Harmonize risk standards across multiple products lines and channels of delivery.
  • Manage strong relationships across all the risk management sub-function structures, securing support and engagement with teams supported.
Leadership & Teamwork
  • Support the effective management of Audit and Compliance Assurance reviews, closing out issues identified in an effective and timely manner, for Retail products, Transactional banking (Payments), Foreign Exchange and CIM.
  • Leading the Operational Resilience programme for UAE IWPB including engagement with entity COO team
  • Support and inspire a multi-disciplinary governance and risk team, building expertise across all covered domains.

Outstanding leadership skills that include setting the right tone to ensure risk

Operational Effectiveness & Control
  • Shape and influence Payment & Forex risk controls, constructively challenging the status quo in search of continuously better ways to manage risk and support Retail, customer engagement and behaviors.
  • Support impact assessments related to regulatory change including analysis of regulations on regulatory change projects.
In order to apply for this role, you must have the following Knowledge and Experience
  • Minimum of 10 year's banking experience with experience in WPB Products ( especially Payment and Forex) is desirable.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Operational Resilience frameworks and best practices is desirable, with the ability to apply these principles in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Proven track record of effective stakeholder management, particularly in engaging and influencing Second Line of Defense functions.
  • Solid technical expertise and a broad understanding of Transactional Banking especially Payments and Foreign Exchange operations, with the ability to identify and manage associated risks.
  • Degree is required in order to obtain a UAE work Permit.
