River Host 1 And River Host Assistant at Headwaters Outfitters

Position Purpose

River Host I will assist the River and Tube Hosts in performing their job. You will be assisting in

all areas of operation including cleaning company vehicles, equipment, and facilities and

performing grounds maintenance.

Position Responsibilities

Team member may perform other duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of

Headwaters Outfitters

• Observe the flow of activity; recognize where help is needed and act upon it effectively.
• Perform a variety of tasks; washing life jackets, vans, and canoes.
• Communicate effectively with customers, co-workers and management.
• Confirm customer trip itinerary and paddle gear, select and load appropriate watercraft

and other river equipment; (paddles, seat backrests, coolers, drop-in seats etc.)

• Follow all safety guidelines, policies, and procedures outlined by management.
• Organize all equipment prior to the river trip. Clean and return all equipment to the

proper storage area upon completion of the trip.

• Select the appropriate size personal floatation device (PFD) for each guest, demonstrate

its proper fit, confirm that it is correctly fitted, and make sure that all participants know

that they must wear a PFD at all times while on the river.

• Observe, recognize, and politely suggest alternatives to provide physical comfort and

safety for guests. This includes enforcing company guidelines and policies; everyone

has shoes, no glass, no alcohol etc.

• Daily inspections of campground, portable toilets, and river accesses identifying and

performing any maintenance and repair needs; mowing and weed eating.

Knowledge Skills, and Abilities

• Obtain a valid work permit.
• Must have a positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
• Be physically able to safely lift and carry heavy equipment including canoes and kayaks.
• Have reliable transportation to and from work and be able to arrive when scheduled.
• Consistently use excellent customer service/communication skills.
• Self-motivated.
• Detail oriented in all work habits.
• Receive, understand and follow instructions.
