Position Summary
This is a hands-on position which will direct and coordinate all production activities through subordinates to attain production goals consistent with cost, high quality, reliability and delivery requirements. Oversee production resources and the execution of manufacturing schedules, personnel requirements, quality control, and the application of production standards and safety/environmental programs. Works closely with Product Development and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure timely introduction of new products and processes.
Responsibilities and Duties
Manage Production
Reviews production demands or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
Ensures that scheduled delivery dates are met with minimum work-in-process time consistent with proper utilization of facilities. Directs, and clears away obstacles that create delays in production.
Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
Establishes direction and strategies for product flow throughout the production area.
Communicates and drives organization objectives. Establishes manufacturing goals and objectives to meet organization strategies and goals.
Represents production on new product development teams by providing scheduling assistance and technical input.
Reviews and approves process specifications and changes to manufacturing documentation.
Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and ensures compliance with standards.
Follows all standard operating procedures. Make recommendations for additions and/or improvements to policies and procedures. Updates as appropriate.
Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
Understand and implement lean manufacturing and Process Excellence methods.
Implement systems and procedural goals to ensure that machines and equipment meet operational performance and utilization requirements.
Reviews equipment and machine requirements based on production schedules.
Determines and oversee the implementation of capital requirements for improvements.
Develop departmental budgets, both operating and capital. Participates and compiles statistics in the preparation and control of department operating budgets.
Provides direction and guidance to all production support groups relative to business requirements for production areas.
Establishes and monitors inventory goals (WIP, floor stock, etc.) adequate to meet schedule requirements while minimizing investment and obsolescence exposure.
Compiles stores and retrieves production and quality data. Reviews and analyzes data and makes recommendations and implements changes based on data.
Establishes direction and strategies for manufacturing documentation.
Manages employee performance. Rewards teamwork and reinforce behavior.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Responsible for ensuring that subordinate follows all company guidelines and policies.
Responsible for ensuring personal and company compliance with all Federal, State, Global, Local and company regulations, policies and procedures for Health, Safety and Environmental compliance.
Must execute work in a manner in compliance with FDA and ISO guidelines for medical device development and manufacture
Requirements
Must have experience in a regulated environment such as medical devices
Bachelor of Science degree and/or a proven track record of manufacturing management
8 years of experience with manufacturing management
5 years of supervisory or project leadership experience
Experience developing and managing budgets with financial, contract management and purchasing skills.
Must have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and respond to changing priorities.
Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to understand and/or communicate project needs.
Salary range: $175K - $196K (Annual Base Salary) (Commensurate with experience, skills, education, and training)
