Job Description
Leads clinical teams to ensure high patient and physician satisfaction and provides support through complex issues. Administers effective distribution and utilization of personnel during shifts. Other duties as assigned. Uses critical thinking skills to coordinate and evaluate services rendered by all departments during shifts. Implements actions to respond to the needs of patients and their families/support systems. Keeps the Chief Nursing Officer and Administrator informed of circumstances with serious impact. Identifies and communicates key issues and trends to leaders and makes recommendations for improvement. Demonstrates knowledge of clinical practice standards to serve as a resource to staff. Responds to emergent situations including code blue, trauma, code stroke, STEMI, and maternal or neonatal emergencies. Carries out hospital and nursing policies, procedures, and standards. Visits patient care units to assess patient conditions, evaluates staffing needs, and supports caregivers. Assesses and reassesses pain, utilizes appropriate pain management techniques, and educates patients and families on pain management. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces medical errors.
