Responsibilities
- Safely operate roll-off trucks, to load and unload containers at various locations.
- Drive heavy-duty vehicles with manual transmissions across diverse routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Load, unload, and secure waste containers using mechanical skills and proper lifting techniques to prevent damage or accidents.
- Conduct routine inspections of trucks and equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety standards are maintained.
- Assist with maintenance tasks such as basic mechanical troubleshooting or minor repairs when necessary.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and site personnel to coordinate deliveries, pickups, and route adjustments.
- Maintain accurate logs of deliveries, pickups, mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle inspections for compliance purposes.
Requirements
- Proven experience in commercial driving, especially with heavy trucks such as roll-off, front loader, rear loader, dump trucks, or flatbeds.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) preferred but not mandatory depending on the vehicle type.
- Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle inspections and troubleshoot issues promptly.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during container loading/unloading processes.
- Familiarity with manual transmission operation on large trucks is highly desirable.
- Strong commitment to safety protocols and adherence to DOT regulations.
- Prior experience as a delivery driver or in waste management is a plus but not required; training will be provided for specific equipment operation.
