Roll Off Driver (Class A CDL) / Diesel Mechanic

For all Texas Gulf Recycling field roles:

Duties and responsibilities:

• Participate in morning safety meetings, discussing daily tasks, achievements, challenges, and ongoing project statuses.
• Communicate frequently using two-way radios to ensure seamless operations and safety.
• Ensures that pre and post trip inspections are completed daily on trucks.
• Schedule and maintain records of equipment maintenance and repairs, ensuring all logs are current
• Actively troubleshoot issues on trucks that failed a pre or post trip inspection.
• Identifies unsatisfactory waste containers and tag containers in accordance with applicable departmental procedures.
• Report all equipment and vehicle issues and breakages on the repair board and to the Mechanic.

Competencies:

• Capable of identifying the difference in MSW, C&D and other specific commodities.
• Fundamental understanding in mathematics and measurements
• Clearly communicates verbally and in writing under chain of command order
• Able to give and accept positive feedback and constructive criticism
• Demonstrate organizational skills, teamwork, and safe work practices.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively without continuous supervision.
• Able to work in extreme Texas heat, winter cold and wetness
• Customer service skills

Experience:

• Lawn care or construction (3 years)
• Experience in waste and recycling industry is a plus.

For roll off drivers

Duties and responsibilities:

• Safely delivers, swaps and pickup dumpster from customer sites.
• Effectively manages time that is required to complete a delivery, swap or pickup from customers' sites.
• Tarps every dumpster that is full of materials, to ensure safe transport.
• Continuously monitor the condition of the vehicle to ensure it is always operationally ready to minimize down time.
• Drivers are required to do minor maintenance on their trucks.

Competencies:

• Exhibits a strong knowledge in safety and DOT laws.
• Presents active class CDL A .

Experience & Education:

• Minimum of two years of prior experience driving heavy trucks.
• Roll off Experience preferred.

For diesel mechanics:

Duties and responsibilities:

• Actively troubleshoot any issues with equipment, trucks and vehicles that failed a pre trip or post trip inspection.
• Routinely plan and schedule regular maintenance on: heavy equipment, 18-wheelers, and pickup trucks.
• Plan and schedule maintenance on small Engines including but not limited to pressure washers, lawn mowers, generators, golf carts and four wheelers.
• Routine equipment servicing at 500-hour intervals, including oil changes and filter replacements.
• Major gear and fluid changes at 1,500-hour intervals.
• Oil change on Trucks at 10,000 Miles.

Competencies:

• Exhibits a strong knowledge with hydraulic systems, diesel engine repairs, pneumatic and electrical systems
• Demonstrates a strong knowledge of equipment including but not limited to operation and maintenance
• Proven capability in trouble shooting
• In-depth knowledge of maintenance on hydraulic systems, excavators, skid steers, and wheel loaders
• Able to read and understand schematic diagrams

Experience and Education:

• Associates degree or certificate from a technical school
• Mechanic experience on heavy and light construction equipment (5 years)
• Mechanic experience on Commercial Semi Trucks (5 years)
• Technical experience with hydraulic pumps, valves, and motors (5 years)
• Welding experience (2 years)
