RTU Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and commission RTUs.
• Integrate RTUs with operation systems, ensuring reliable communication and data acquisition.
• Conduct functional testing of I/O signals, communication protocols (IEC 60870-5-104, DNP3), and telemetry systems.
• Collaborate with operation system, protection, and telecom teams to ensure seamless system integration.
• Supervise subcontractors during RTU installation and ensure adherence to technical specifications and safety standards.
• Troubleshoot RTU hardware and software issues during installation and operation phases.
• Maintain accurate documentation including wiring diagrams, configuration files, test reports, and RLM (Red line Mark) records.
• Support FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and SAT (Site Acceptance Testing) procedures.
• Ensure compliance with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) protocols during all site activities.
• Provide technical training and support to field technicians and operations staff.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Electronics, or Control Systems Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in RTU installation, configuration and commissioning.
• Strong understanding of automation principle, communication protocols, and telemetry systems.
• Familiarity with IEC standards and local utility regulations.
• Proficient in diagnostic tools, configuration software (e.g., EcoStruxure), and MS Office Suite.
• Fluent in English and local Pakistani languages (e.g., Urdu; regional languages are a plus).

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with RTUs, and integration with Automation system platforms.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity practices in OT environments.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics, network diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently in field conditions and manage multiple site activities.

Work Environment:

• Site-based role with frequent travel to MV substations and remote locations.
• Fast-paced, collaborative, and technically intensive project environment.
