Safety Coordinator

Summary

A leading mechanical contractor who had been in operation for 20+ years is actively seeking a Safety Coordinator to support projects across the Southern California region. This role is critical in upholding jobsite safety standards and providing training across multiple locations, including project sites in the Los Angeles County, and Orange County.

As a Safety Coordinator, you’ll implement corporate safety programs, lead live trainings, and act as a key liaison between project teams and safety leadership. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of OSHA/Cal-OSHA compliance, a proactive approach to safety culture, and a track record in commercial or industrial construction environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee implementation of safety policies and programs across all assigned job sites and fabrication shop

  • Conduct regular safety audits, site inspections, and documentation reviews to ensure compliance

  • Lead New Hire Safety Orientation for field employees and conduct Competent Person Trainings (e.g., Fall Protection, Confined Space, Excavation)

  • Keep safety documentation, training logs, and compliance records up to date and audit-ready

  • Lead accident/incident investigations and recommend corrective actions

  • Partner with field leadership to promote a proactive safety culture through coaching and mentorship

  • Serve as on-site safety lead during high-risk activities such as crane lifts

  • Assist in maintaining and updating company safety programs, SOPs, and job hazard analyses

  • Develop trusted relationships with internal teams, clients, and external agencies

  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of construction safety experience on large commercial or industrial projects

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional safety training or certifications preferred

  • Minimum 3+ years of total safety-related experience

  • Strong understanding of OSHA and Cal-OSHA regulations and jobsite compliance standards

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence behavior and build rapport

  • Competent in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • OSHA 500 Certification preferred, or the ability to obtain after getting hired on.

  • Ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism and discretion
