Job Description – Safety Engineer (Site)
Department: Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
Reports To: Project Manager / HSE Manager
Position Overview
We are seeking a vigilant and proactive Safety Engineer to oversee and implement health and safety practices on-site for interior design and build projects. The Safety Engineer will ensure compliance with safety regulations, minimize risks, and create a safe working environment for all site personnel, contractors, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor site-specific safety plans, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments at project sites.
- Identify potential hazards and ensure corrective and preventive measures are implemented.
- Ensure compliance with statutory safety regulations, codes, and client requirements.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety inductions, and training for workers and subcontractors.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, or near misses, and prepare detailed reports with recommendations.
- Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, and subcontractors to enforce safe work practices.
- Maintain updated safety records, permits, and documentation as per legal and company standards.
- Ensure proper usage of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) by all site staff and workers.
- Liaise with external authorities (labour inspectors, fire department, etc.) when required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree / Diploma in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field.
- Certification in Safety Management (NEBOSH / IOSH / OSHA or equivalent) preferred.
- 2–5 years of experience as a Safety Engineer / HSE Officer (experience in interior fit-out, construction, or civil projects preferred).
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, construction site safety, and risk management practices.
- Excellent observation, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills to effectively interact with workers, site staff, and management.
- Ability to train and motivate teams to follow safety protocols.
