Safety Engineer

Job Title: Safety Engineer – Construction

Location: United Arab Emirates ( Sharjah)

Experience Required: Minimum 5 Years (UAE construction industry preferred)

Job Description:

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Safety Engineer to oversee all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) activities on our construction projects. The ideal candidate will ensure that all safety procedures and regulations are fully implemented, followed, and maintained in compliance with UAE laws, company policies, and international HSE standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Site Safety Management

• Implement and monitor the project HSE plan.
• Conduct daily site inspections and ensure full compliance with safety regulations.
• Identify unsafe acts/conditions and take corrective actions immediately.

2. Risk Assessment & Safety Planning

• Prepare and review Risk Assessments (RA) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
• Ensure Method Statements comply with HSE requirements before execution.

3. Training & Awareness

• Conduct toolbox talks, safety induction programs, and emergency drills.
• Train workers and staff on safe working procedures and hazard awareness.

4. Compliance & Documentation

• Maintain incident/accident reports and follow up with corrective actions.
• Prepare daily/weekly/monthly HSE reports for management and consultants.
• Ensure all safety records are properly maintained.

5. Coordination

• Coordinate with site engineers, subcontractors, and consultants for HSE implementation.
• Ensure safe execution of high-risk activities (lifting works, scaffolding, hot works, working at height, confined space, etc.).

6. Equipment & PPE Monitoring

• Inspect PPE usage and verify compliance.
• Ensure machinery, tools, and equipment are certified and safe to operate.

7. Emergency Preparedness

• Ensure emergency response plans are in place.
• Conduct periodic fire and evacuation drills.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of HSE experience in UAE construction industry (high-rise/building projects preferred).
• Must hold recognized HSE certifications: NEBOSH IGC, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of UAE safety regulations, Dubai Municipality & Civil Defense requirements.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to prepare reports and conduct training sessions.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced construction environment.
