Safety Management System (SMS) Officer / SMS Responsible

Position Summary

FPSS (Part‑145 Line Maintenance Repair Station) is seeking a qualified Safety Management System (SMS) Officer / SMS Responsible to lead, maintain and continuously improve the organization’s SMS and safety assurance activities. The role is accountable for implementing SMS processes that meet GACAR / EASA Part‑145 expectations and align with the organization’s ISO 9001 quality management requirements. This is an operational, hands‑on role based at our line maintenance facility with regular interaction across operations, quality, training and management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety Management System Implementation & Maintenance: Maintain and develop the S M in accordance with rules and regulations guidance and safety principles; ensure alignment with regulatory requirements where applicable.
  • Hazard Identification & Risk Management: Lead hazard identification, risk assessment and risk mitigation activities; maintain risk register and ensure timely risk controls.
  • Safety Assurance & Monitoring: Plan and execute safety assurance activities (trend analysis, safety performance indicators, audits, inspections, safety data analysis).
  • Occurrence Reporting & Investigation: Manage the occurrence reporting system; lead or coordinate investigations, root‑cause analysis (5‑Why, RCA), and produce investigation reports with corrective/preventive actions.
  • Corrective Action Oversight: Track corrective and preventive actions (CAPs), verify effectiveness, and ensure closure with evidence; integrate CAPs into the Quality Management System.
  • Safety Promotion & Training: Develop and deliver Safety awareness and safety promotion activities; support development of safety related training and briefings for operational staff and management.
  • Documentation & Records: Maintain Safety System documentation, safety policy, safety objectives, procedures, and records; ensure controlled distribution and version control in line with organization’s document control.
  • Interface with Regulators & Stakeholders: Prepare safety reports and provide safety inputs for regulatory inspections and audits; act as point of contact for safety matters with oversight authorities.
  • Management Reporting: Produce periodic safety performance reports and present findings, trends and recommendations to Accountable Manager and senior management.
  • Continuous Improvement: Propose and lead safety improvement projects; ensure lessons learned are captured and embedded into procedures and training.

Mandatory Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Degree in Aviation Management, Safety Management, Engineering, or related discipline preferred. Equivalent experience considered.
  • Mandatory Experience: Minimum 3–5 years proven experience in safety management, safety assurance, or safety investigation roles. Previous experience in aviation is highly preferred; experience in aircraft maintenance environment is preferred.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Demonstrable knowledge of GACAR Part‑145 requirements and SMS principles. Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015, or equivalent is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with safety reporting systems, risk registers, data analysis tools, and audit/CAP management. Competence in root‑cause analysis techniques.
  • Language: Fluent English required; Arabic language skills advantageous.

Reporting Line & Working Conditions

  • Reports to: Accountable Manager / Head of Quality or as defined in company policy.
  • Location: Jeddah / Madinah, e.g., FPSS Line Maintenance Bases (JED) & (MED).
  • Hours: Full‑time; 8Hrs/5Days and occasional out‑of‑hours incident response required.
  • Travel: Occasional travel between line stations and to regulatory meetings as required.

Pay: ﷼5,000.00 - ﷼7,000.00 per month
