Safety Officer

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor daily construction activities to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
• Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify unsafe acts or conditions.
• Enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure proper signage is in place.
• Deliver safety inductions and toolbox talks to new and existing workers.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses; prepare detailed reports and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate safety records, including inspection logs, incident reports, and training documentation.
• Assist in the development and review of site-specific safety plans and method statements.
• Liaise with site supervisors, contractors, and regulatory authorities on all safety-related matters.
• Ensure compliance with local and international construction safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001).
• Support emergency response planning and drills.

Qualifications:

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional safety certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA 30-Hour, or equivalent (required).
• 2–5 years of proven experience as a Safety Officer in the construction industry.
• Strong understanding of construction operations and site hazards.
• Excellent observational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage safety responsibilities across multiple teams.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with construction equipment and machinery safety.
• First Aid/CPR certified.
• Strong leadership and training abilities.
• Proficiency in MS Office and safety software tools.
