We are looking for an experienced Safety Officer to ensure workplace well-being by conducting risk assessments, developing policies, training staff, investigating incidents, and ensuring compliance with local/international standards, requiring qualifications such as a relevant degree (OHS, Engineering) plus certifications (NEBOSH, IOSH) for roles in high-risk sectors such as construction, demanding strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills for a safe environment.
Responsibilities of a Safety Officer:
- Risk & Hazard Management: Identify hazards, perform risk assessments, and implement control measures (PPE, safe procedures).
- Policy & Compliance: Develop, implement, and update safety policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to UAE laws and standards.
- Training & Awareness: Conduct safety training and promote a strong safety culture.
- Incident Management: Investigate accidents, report findings, and manage claims/corrective actions.
- Inspections & Audits: Regularly inspect sites, equipment, and personnel activities for non-compliance.
- Emergency Response: Develop plans and lead drills for emergencies.
- Reporting: Prepare regular HSE reports for management and regulatory bodies.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field.
- Certification is required:
- NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) or Diploma.
- IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent.
- Specific diplomas in Construction Safety, Fire Safety, etc..
- Experience: Minimum 2-3 years in MEP contracting industry.
- Key Skills: Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, attention to detail, leadership, and teamwork.
