Safety Officer

1. JOB PURPOSE

To ensure a safe and healthy working environment by implementing, monitoring, and enforcing occupational health and safety requirements, in compliance with company policies, legal regulations, and applicable safety standards.

2. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Implement and monitor occupational health and safety programs at site level.
• Conduct regular workplace safety inspections and report unsafe acts and conditions.
• Identify hazards and support the preparation of risk assessments and control measures.
• Ensure compliance with local safety regulations and company safety procedures.
• Monitor the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions and support corrective actions.
• Deliver safety inductions and toolbox talks for employees and contractors.
• Maintain safety records, reports, permits, and inspection checklists.
• Coordinate with contractors to ensure compliance with site safety rules.
• Support emergency preparedness activities such as fire drills and evacuation exercises.
  
  

Educational Credentials

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, or a related field .

Work Experience

• Minimum 2–4 years experience in a Safety Officer or HSE role .
• Safety certification such as NEBOSH IGC or equivalent is preferred.

Language Skills

• Good communication skills in English.

Computer Skills

• Basic knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel).
