The Safety Officer is responsible for implementing and maintaining health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards within a plastic manufacturing plant in Jeddah. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with safety regulations, minimizing workplace hazards, and promoting a strong safety culture across all plant operations.
- Conduct safety induction and awareness sessions for all employees, especially production and machine operators.
- Ensure full compliance with local safety regulations (Saudi regulations) and company HSE policies.
- Perform regular inspections of machinery, production lines (injection, extrusion, etc.), and safety equipment.
- Identify workplace hazards (chemical, mechanical, electrical) and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor safe handling, storage, and disposal of plastic materials and chemicals.
- Implement and maintain the Company's HSE Management System (HSEMS).
- Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for all critical operations within the plant.
- Organize and supervise emergency drills (fire, evacuation, chemical spill).
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, near misses, inspections, and compliance reports.
- Prepare monthly HSE reports and submit them to the HSE Engineer/Manager.
- Investigate incidents and prepare reports (SOR) with corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) across all departments.
- Promote a proactive safety culture among employees and supervisors.
- Coordinate with maintenance and production teams to improve workplace safety.
- Ensure environmental compliance and support sustainability initiatives within the plant.
- Perform any additional tasks assigned by the HSE Engineer or management.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Safety Management or related field (Mandatory)
- Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science, or related field (Preferred)
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an HSE Officer in industrial/manufacturing environment (Mandatory)
- Experience in plastic manufacturing or similar industry (Preferred)
Certifications
- OSHA Certification (Mandatory/Preferred)
- ISO 14001 or ISO 45001 (Preferred)
- Strong knowledge of industrial safety standards and regulations
- Experience with machinery safety (injection molding / extrusion lines is a plus)
- Risk assessment and hazard identification skills
- Good reporting and documentation skills
- Ability to conduct training and awareness sessions
