Safety Officer

Job Title - Safety Officer

HSE Manager / Project Manager / Safety Manager

Job Summary

The Safety Officer is responsible for implementing and monitoring health, safety, and environmental policies at the workplace to ensure compliance with company standards and local regulations. The role involves conducting inspections, risk assessments, safety training, accident investigations, and promoting a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities

Health & Safety Management

  • Implement company HSE policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits.
  • Identify workplace hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and permit-to-work systems.
  • Monitor use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
  • Maintain safe working practices at all times.

Risk Assessment & Incident Management

  • Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and risk assessments.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses.
  • Prepare incident reports and corrective action plans.
  • Maintain records of accidents and safety observations.
  • Monitor emergency preparedness and response procedures.

Training & Awareness

  • Conduct toolbox talks and safety inductions.
  • Train employees on safety procedures and emergency response.
  • Promote safety awareness campaigns across the site.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain HSE documentation and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with local authority and client safety requirements.
  • Monitor safety permits including:
  • Hot Work Permit
  • Work at Height Permit
  • Confined Space Permit
  • Electrical Isolation Permit

Coordination

  • Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and contractors on safety matters.
  • Participate in client safety meetings and inspections.
  • Support audits and regulatory inspections.

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline (preferred Engineering).
  • NEBOSH IGC / IOSH certification preferred.
  • Additional HSE certifications are an advantage.

Experience

  • 3–7 years of experience as Safety Officer in:
  • Oil & Gas
  • Facilities Management
  • Industrial projects

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of HSE regulations and standards.
  • Familiarity with risk assessment and incident investigation.
  • Understanding of emergency response procedures.
  • Ability to prepare safety reports and documentation.

Working Conditions

  • Site-based work environment.
  • May require shift work and outdoor duties.

Candidates with transferable Visa and NOC available are preferred.
