Safety Officer - Oil and Gas

Doha, Qatar

  • Implement and enforce company HSE policies, procedures, and client safety requirements at site.

  • Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits for fabrication, erection, piping, and structural activities.

  • Identify hazards, assess risks, and recommend corrective/preventive measures.

  • Monitor permit-to-work systems (Hot Work, Confined Space, Work at Height, Lifting operations, etc.).

  • Conduct toolbox talks, safety training, and awareness programs for workforce and subcontractors.

  • Ensure proper use of PPE and safe execution of tasks in high-risk areas.

  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe acts/conditions; prepare reports with corrective action plans.

  • Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, and client safety representatives to maintain safe work practices.

  • Maintain documentation of HSE records, reports, and compliance as per project and regulatory requirements.

  • Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement at all levels of the organization.


  • Diploma/Degree in Engineering or Science discipline (preferred).

  • NEBOSH IGC / IOSH / OSHA or equivalent HSE certifications (mandatory).

  • Minimum 5–10 years’ experience as Safety Officer in Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Fertilizer, or Refinery projects.

  • Experience with contracting companies handling fabrication, erection of storage tanks, piping, and structural steel.

  • Strong knowledge of international HSE standards (OSHA, NFPA, API, OHSAS/ISO 45001).

  • Familiar with Permit to Work (PTW) systems and HSE practices in EPC projects.
