About the Opportunity
A leading UAE‑based general trading and marine supplies company is seeking a Sales & Procurement Executive with at least two years of hands‑on experience in ship chandling, marine equipment trading, industrial supplies, or general trading in the United Arab Emirates. This role bridges procurement and sales and is ideal for a self‑starter who can source products competitively, understand customer requirements and convert enquiries into sales. Candidates with experience dealing with vessel owners, ship chandlers and industrial clients are highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales & customer development – Develop relationships with vessel owners, ship chandlers, MEP contractors, oil & gas clients and industrial customers. Generate monthly and annual sales targets through regular interaction with purchase teams and decision makers. Follow up on quotations and proactively convert enquiries into sales.
- Procurement & sourcing – Source technical materials, marine supplies, safety equipment, tools, plumbing materials and consumables from reliable suppliers. Obtain quotations, compare prices and specifications, and prepare competitive sales quotations. Maintain a strong network of UAE‑based suppliers and distributors to secure the best offers and ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Supplier relations & negotiation – Maintain positive relationships with suppliers and manufacturers. Evaluate supply options, negotiate pricing and contract terms and ensure delivery schedules are met. Keep up to date with product trends and new items in the marine and industrial equipment sector.
- Product knowledge & technical understanding – Develop deep knowledge of marine and oil‑field supplies, hand tools, electrical and safety products, HVAC and plumbing items, building materials and hotel amenities. Understand clients’ technical requirements and match them with appropriate products and equipment.
- Quotations & order management – Prepare and send quotations in line with company pricing policy. Track purchase orders, coordinate with sales and delivery teams, and ensure accurate records and invoicing. Follow up on supplier payments and maintain procurement logs.
- Market research & lead generation – Monitor market trends to identify new suppliers and customers. Use online platforms, personal networks and industry connections to find and engage potential customers, boosting the company’s presence and sales.
- Collaboration & reporting – Coordinate with internal departments to ensure seamless operations. Prepare periodic sales and procurement reports for management and assist in inventory planning and logistics.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience – Minimum 2 years of combined sales and procurement experience in the UAE within ship chandling, marine equipment trading, industrial supplies or general trading sectors. Experience dealing with vessel owners, ship chandlers, oil & gas and construction clients is highly advantageous.
- Supplier network – Strong knowledge of UAE‑based distributors and suppliers for marine equipment, industrial tools, safety gear and consumables. Ability to identify and onboard new suppliers.
- Sales acumen – Proven ability to convert enquiries into sales, negotiate pricing and meet revenue targets. Excellent communication and customer‑service skills; fluency in English is required and knowledge of additional languages (Arabic, Hindi) is a plus.
- Procurement skills – Hands‑on experience with quotations, price comparisons, purchase orders, vendor management and supply‑chain coordination. Proficiency with MS Office and ERP/CRM software for procurement and sales reporting is essential.
- Technical aptitude – Ability to analyse product specifications and understand technical requirements for marine, industrial and safety equipment. Familiarity with marine and oil‑field supplies, electrical and HVAC systems, pipe fittings and sanitary ware is important.
- Customer outreach – Comfortable using digital platforms and personal networks to identify and engage new customers. Existing customer relationships or an active client portfolio in the UAE is a plus.
