Sales/Project Estimator

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our chainlink fence company. The Estimator will be responsible for evaluating project specifications, analyzing site conditions, and preparing accurate cost estimates for residential, commercial, and industrial fencing projects. The ideal candidate has knowledge of fencing materials and installation techniques, strong math and analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review project plans, blueprints, and specifications to determine scope and requirements.
• Conduct site visits to gather measurements, assess terrain, and identify potential challenges.
• Calculate quantities of materials (e.g., chain-link, posts, gates, fittings) and labor requirements.
• Prepare and submit detailed cost estimates and proposals to clients in a timely manner.
• Communicate with suppliers to obtain material pricing and ensure cost accuracy.
• Coordinate with project managers and installation teams to align estimates with field capabilities.
• Assist in preparing change orders, project budgets, and value engineering when needed.
• Maintain a database of pricing, material costs, and labor rates for future reference.
• Follow up with clients to answer questions, clarify details, and support the sales process.
• Track awarded projects and monitor budget vs. actual cost performance.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as an estimator in the fencing, construction, or related industry.
• Strong understanding of chain-link fencing materials, installation methods, and relevant codes/regulations.
• Proficient in blueprint reading and takeoffs.
• Excellent math, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple bids simultaneously.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with estimating software, Microsoft Excel, and other relevant tools.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2+ years estimating experience in the fencing or construction industry.
• Experience with CAD, Bluebeam, or similar tools is a plus.
