Job Title: Miner II - Scaler / Jumbo Drill Operator

1st shift 6am-2PM

Pay Rate $21.20

Reports to: Underground Mine Manager

Union Position

Primary Responsibility:

Works multiple job descriptions and functions at levels expected for each assigned position. Expectations may be reassigned to various positions during a single shift.

Perform workplace examinations prior to performing work in any area, ensuring all documentation is maintained. Any hazards found that cannot be corrected will be immediately reported to management. Equipment operator will be required to safely carry out all assignments within company, state, and federal standards. Operator will be responsible for inspecting, lubing, and maintaining equipment in safe operational condition. Safety and mechanical defects will be reported to management and maintenance to ensure necessary repairs are made in a timely manner.

Scaler-Equipment operator will operate mechanical scaling equipment to remove loose material from the mine roof and ribs.

Jumbo Drill Operator- Equipment operator will operate mechanical drilling and bolting equipment for drilling production and inspection boring. This will include the operation of the manual roof bolter to install bolting assemblies and surveying. Other responsibilities are to operate other heavy equipment and perform various other tasks.

Operator must maintain a safe and clean work area.

Essential Functions:

Promote a safe work environment through personal actions. Identify any safety concerns, as well as cost saving opportunities.

Operate mobile heavy equipment that they are assigned in a safe, effective manner.

Work as team and communicate effectively.

Maintain machinery, tools, and supplies in good condition and use tools and equipment carefully as instructed.

Follow all company, state, and federal regulations.

Assist in keeping accurate production records.

Keeps work area clean and performs housekeeping duties as required.

Performs related work and other job assignments as required.

Qualifications/Additional Skills:

Must possess some basic mechanical skills
Experience in heavy equipment operation
Must possess a valid driver license
Ability to climb ladders, navigate steps, and walk short distances.
Ability to identify minor and major mechanical failures or symptoms that may indicate potential mechanical failures.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, as well as interpret mine maps and visual aids.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred

Physical Requirements:

While performing the essential functions of this job, the associate is frequently required to sit and stand for extended periods. Vision must be good for both far and close and may be corrected with lenses. Must be able to use hands to grasp, handle and feel objects; type and manipulate controls. Operator must be able to push/pull 20 lbs., lift up to 50 lbs., and climb ladders up to 10 feet. Hand scaling is required occasionally.

Pay: $17.50 - $23.81 per hour
