Summary: Responsible for planning, preparing and implementing daily program of age appropriate fun and educational activities as they relate to children enrolled in program by performing the following duties:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Writing Daily lesson plans, modeling High Scope curriculum and implementing the teaching pyramid to fidelity.*
- Use assessments and observations as set forth by NYS accreditation standards.*
- Attend and participate in meetings, in-services and workshops offered at RCN and other institutes.*
- Support and enforce classroom and center policies.*
- Ensure safety of Children through close supervision of activities; Foster adherence of safety rules and policies when children are going to and from school or field trips.*
- Maintains all required attendance, Child and Adult Care Food Program, New York State Office of Children and Family Services and other RCN required paperwork to fidelity.*
- Maintain files program-wide on each child to include developmental progress, documented behavior problems and any other pertinent information.*
- Demonstrate willingness to expand knowledge of teaching skills, learning styles, and other information that will enhance level of support and care to children enrolled in program and their parents.*
- Request equipment, curriculum materials and supplies for use in the classroom. Respect the use and care of materials and equipment.*
- Adhere to and have knowledge of OCFS regulations; ratio, incident reports,
- Follow the end of day closing procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times regarding child(ren) and family communications.*
- Assist with special needs of children as required per IEP and behavioral plans.
- Follow the pyramid model of challenging behaviors to fidelity at all times.*
- Assists in the maintenance of all student emergency contact information used in classrooms for field trips and emergency drills.*
- Implement the use of PATHS curriculum for social and emotional development weekly.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
*Essential duties
Qualification/Experience:
To be qualified as a group teacher for a school age class, a person must possess either: (i) an Associate’s degree in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation or a related field, or (ii) a School-age Child Care Credential, or other Office-recognized credential specific to the school-age developmental period; and one year of experience working with children less than 13 years of age; or (iii) a High School Diploma or its equivalent; and two years of direct experience working with children less than 13 years of age.
