School Bus Driver

CLASS TITLE: SCHOOL BUS DRIVER

Work Length: Split Shift - 193 days - 5 hours

DEFINITION: Under general supervision, operates a school vehicle in transporting children to and from school and on special trips; and performs related work as required.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

· Develops the most efficient route for transportation of assigned students

· Drives bus along route, stops and designated points to pick up or discharge students

· Maintains order and enforces rules

· Reports and cities for disciplinary action in cases of extreme or repeated unruliness

· Reports incidents

· Files accident reports when necessary

· Makes routine safety checks on vehicle

· Reports problems or equipment malfunctioning

· Maintains records of all trips

· Keeps bus clean

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Training and Experience: None

Knowledge of:

· Motor vehicle regulations and special codes and regulations related to school buses

· Safe driving practices

Skills in:

· Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others

Ability to:

· Maintain order under difficult circumstances

· Understand and follow verbal and written instructions

· Keep records

· Maintain good public relations

Licenses and Certificates:

· Possession of a valid California Class B driver’s license

· Class A Bus Driver’s Certificate issued by the California Highway

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $27.71 - $33.69 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 25 per week
