Job Description
Benchmark School is seeking a school counselor, psychologist, or social worker for our grades 1-8 school for students who learn differently. Benchmark School remains committed to the social and emotional well-being of its students. To meet this commitment, the Child & Family Support Services Department was created to provide support and consultation for its students, parents, and staff.
Responsibilities

Providing support to students through individual counseling and group meetings

Teaching weekly class meeting lessons (Affective Curriculum)

Offering ongoing consultation to parents and staff as needed
-
Leading parent groups and workshops periodically

Communicating with students, parents, and other staff members in a positive, clear and professional manner

Demonstrating an openness to learning, growth, and change in accordance with the educational philosophy of Benchmark School

Actively pursuing professional growth and development through professional reading and participation in professional development activities in and outside of Benchmark School

Participating in periodic evening or weekend activities, including meetings, professional development activities, and school events
Qualifications

Advanced degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology

Licensed and advanced certification preferred

Minimum of three years' experience working with school-age children preferred

Ability to work well with a team
-
Effective communicator, both verbally and in writing, with colleagues and parents

Enthusiastic interest in motivating and supporting students

A role model for students
