Description
Gideon Hausner seeks a student-centered, organized, and compassionate School Health Coordinator to lead our health services program for TK–8 students. The Health Coordinator manages daily clinic operations, provides direct care, coordinates care plans for students with chronic conditions, and partners closely with families, teachers, and administrators to promote a safe, healthy, and inclusive learning environment.
The successful candidate will oversee medication management and state compliance, respond to illness and injury, develop individualized health plans, and provide health education and staff training. This role collaborates with Student Services, the Learning Support Team, and administrators to support whole-child wellness and readiness to learn.

Strong organizational skills; meticulous documentation and confidentiality (FERPA/HIPAA awareness)

Ability to educate and train adults on first aid, EpiPen use, diabetes care, and concussion protocols

Comfortable with digital health records and basic data reporting
Responsibilities
-
Triage and treat student illness/injury; maintain a welcoming, efficient clinic environment
-
Administer and document medications and treatments; maintain physician/parent authorizations; ensure safe storage and inventory

Develop and update Individualized Healthcare Plans and emergency action plans (e.g., asthma, anaphylaxis, diabetes, seizures); coordinate care with families and providers

Manage immunization compliance, screenings, and state reporting; follow current public-health guidance on communicable diseases

Provide staff training on CPR/AED/first aid refreshers, EpiPen administration, seizure and diabetes care; deliver age-appropriate student health education and parent resources

Serve on the school safety team; support drills and emergency preparedness; maintain clinic supplies and AEDs

Partner with Student Services, counselors, and teachers on attendance/return-to-learn plans, accommodations, and wellness initiatives

Maintain accurate, confidential health records and communication logs; track trends to inform prevention efforts

Other Duties as assigned in support of student health and school operations
Requirements:
Required Education/Experience
-
California Registered Nurse (RN) license OR Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)/Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) OR Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMT-P) OR Public Health Nurse (PHN)

Current First Aid CPR/AED (BLS) certification

2+ years of recent pediatric, school, or community health experience preferred

Experience managing chronic conditions common in schools (asthma, allergies/anaphylaxis, diabetes, seizures)

Proficiency with electronic health records and secure communication
