School Librarian

Responsibilities: Plan and deliver high-qualify project-based learning units that integrate library and technology resources.Provide basic technical support to students and staff, including troubleshooting minor computer issues and managing the distribution and collection of student loaner devices. Motivate and engage students in learning.Focus student learning on critical thinking, skillful research, and ability to synthesis and evaluate information. Utilize culturally responsive pedagogy to ensure inclusivity and diversity are prioritized.Maintain and develop the library collection.Maintain communication with families as needed.Work with administration to develop student-centered goals for library media services.Manage the utilization of the library media facility.Work with the administration to develop and administer a budget for the library media services.Work collaboratively with district administration and other library media specialist to plan and implementation information skills continuum, research strategies, and the use of resources and equipment.Promote the library media program services and materials by maintaining a positive relationship with students, staff and the Billerica Public Library. Service as a resource to administrators, teachers, students, and patents (as time allows)Integrate available resources and technologies to produce authentic learning experiences.

Provides library services and resources that meet the needs of all students and staff and support the MA Curriculum Frameworks. Creates a Library environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.Ensures access to print and electronic resources by maintaining an accurate and efficient circulation system.Sets and maintains standards of student behavior.Promote love of reading and appreciation of literature.Selects, purchases, organizes and maintains the library materials and supplies.Provide other related duties that the Principal may assign.Candidates must be MA certified as a middle school Librarian with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.Salary based on Teacher contract salary schedule, which can be found at: https://www.billericak12.com/human-resources.
