Reports To: Special Education Supervisor

2026-2027 School Year

WORK LOCATIONS:

Midland County ESA operated early childhood through post-secondary classrooms as well as

public school academies in various locations within Midland County.

WORK SCHEDULE: 186 days, work hours and scheduling varies

SALARY: Salary and benefits in accordance with Master Agreement

PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES:

  • Michigan School Psychologist Certificate, Michigan Preliminary School Psychologist
Certification or Full Psychologist Michigan LARA License.

  • Master’s Degree in psychology or equivalent

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of federal and state special education laws and other legal aspects of the role of
the school psychologist.
  • A commitment to improving learning for all students.
  • Demonstrated positive interpersonal relationships.
  • Must have a knowledge of the organization and administration of local, county and state
agencies and their services for pupils
  • The ability to consult, counsel, and collaborate with pupils, parents, school personnel, and
appropriate outside personnel regarding mental health, behavior, and educational concerns

utilizing psychology principles.

  • An understanding of the rationale of testing, measurement, and skills in the administration of
tests, including those which measure intelligence, achievement, adaptive behavior, perceptual-
motor skills, and behavior.
  • Understanding of personality development and the assessment of human behavior.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish positive working relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide School Psychological services to any student as outlined in Special Education Rules
and Regulations.
  • Collaborate with staff in planning educational intervention, MTSS, curriculum, behavioral
management, and teaching strategies.
  • Consult, counsel, and collaborate with students, parents, school personnel, and appropriate
outside personnel regarding mental health, behavioral and educational concerns utilizing
psychological principles.
  • Provide psychological evaluation for students referred as candidates for special education
programs, and provide reports to the appropriate educational authority.
  • Perform systematic direct observation of students.
  • Administer tests, which may include intelligence, achievement, adaptive behavior, perceptual-
motor, in addition to criterion referenced and curriculum-based assessments.
  • Interpret and analyze psychological data for professionals, parents, students, and appropriate
others.
  • Collaborate in program planning and evaluation services for decision-making purposes.
  • Provide strategies for student classroom, building and district success to teachers, service
providers, parents and administrators.
  • Conduct IEP Team meetings and assist in ongoing review of strategies for students.
  • Serve as a member of the IEP Team to assist in the determination of eligibility, placement,
and development of the IEP.
  • Collaborate with parents, multidisciplinary evaluation team members, school administrators
and other community agencies to develop an accurate understanding of a student’s disability
and the impact of the disability on the student’s educational performance.
  • Practice in accordance with the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP)
Principles for Professional Ethics, and Professional Conduct Manual.
  • Demonstrate sufficient computer knowledge and skills necessary for electronic recordkeeping.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Midland County ESA Administration.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit,

talk, see and hear. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and

reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move 60 pounds or

more. Occasional travel may be required. Noise levels are typically moderate.
