<div><p>The Civil Appeals Division represents state agencies, officials, and employees in civil appeals pending in state and federal reviewing courts. Those courts include the United States Supreme Court, United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, Illinois Supreme Court, and all five districts of the Illinois Appellate Court. Most of the Division&rsquo;s cases originate in the civil litigation bureaus of the Office (for example, General Law or Revenue Litigation). The areas of law involved in these cases vary widely and include such diverse topics as constitutional law, administrative law, prisoner rights, labor law, tax law, employment discrimination, unemployment compensation, education, child support, jurisdiction, and immunities. The Division also handles administrative review matters that proceed directly to the appellate court from state agencies such as the Illinois Human Rights Commission, Labor Relations Boards, Pollution Control Board, and Property Tax Appeal Board.<br>

Attorneys in the Division manage their own caseloads under the guidance of the Division Chief, Deputy Division Chiefs, and Supervising Attorneys, and are responsible for briefing and arguing their own appeals.</p></div>

<div><p>Candidates should have a minimum of three years of legal experience or an appellate clerkship, as well as a demonstrated interest in appellate work. <p><b>Physical Requirements:</b></p>
<p>Light work. Light work involves lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Even though the weight lifted may be very little, a job is in this category when it requires a good deal of walking or standing, or when it involves sitting most of the time with some pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls. The expected base salary for this role, if located in Illinois, is between $87,600 - 122,600 USD. The base salary range does not include Intercontinental Exchange&rsquo;s incentive compensation. The City of Chicago Law Department is seeking an attorney for the position of Assistant Corporation Counsel Supervisor to lead attorneys in the Legal Information and Prosecutions (&ldquo;LIP&rdquo;) Division. This division represents the City in prosecuting municipal ordinance violations in the Circuit Court of Cook County and the Chicago Department of Administrative Hearings.</p><p>
The Assistant Corporation Counsel (ACC) Supervisor will report directly to the Chief Assistant Corporation Counsel in the Prosecution Group and work under the general supervision of the City Prosecutor. The ACC Supervisor will collaborate closely with various City departments and officials, including the Department of Buildings, the Department of Streets and Sanitation, and the Chicago Police Department.</p><p></p><p>
The ACC Supervisor will have supervisory responsibility over a range of matters, including but not limited to client counseling and training on municipal prosecution. The Supervisor will also handle all phases of litigation in their own cases, including preparing pleadings and motions of varying complexity, appearing in court and administrative hearings, conducting settlement conferences, and managing discovery. This role involves direct interaction with the public. Additionally, the ACC Supervisor will oversee Assistant Corporation Counsels in all phases of their assigned cases, training, and projects.</p><p></p><p><b>
