General Description: The Juvenile Sex Crimes Specialist will serve as the sex crimes expert and lead prosecutor for all sex crimes in the Juvenile Justice Division (approximately 30-35 cases). This position requires an 18-month commitment that may be extended upon completion. This is a full-time bargaining unit exempt position.
Working Environment and Reporting Structure: The Juvenile Sex Crimes Specialist will be the lead prosecutor for all sex crimes cases within the Juvenile Justice Division and will vertically prosecute these cases from arraignment to disposition with the assistance and collaboration of the line ASAs assigned to the geographical courtrooms. When needed, the Juvenile Sex Crimes Specialist will also collaborate with concurrent adult co-offender prosecutions as well as law enforcement special task forces. The Juvenile Sex Crimes Specialist will mentor and coach the assisting line ASAs and work as a liaison with the adult Sex Crimes Division.
The Juvenile Sex Crimes Specialist shall be an effective advocate and emissary of the mission, vision, and values of the Cook County State&rsquo;s Attorney&rsquo;s Office both with ASAs as well as juvenile court, law enforcement, and community partners.
Duties/Requirements:
<ul><li>Trial experience prosecuting complex aggravated criminal sexual assault/abuse cases;</li>
<li>Experience conducting fitness and 115-10 hearings;</li>
<li>Experience directing and cross-examining expert witnesses;</li>
<li>Ability to properly prepare a case involving forensic evidence for trial;</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to patiently teach and mentor newer Assistant State&rsquo;s Attorneys;</li>
<li>An interest in restorative justice principles; and</li>
<li>A willingness to facilitate and conduct training for newer Assistant State&rsquo;s Attorneys.</li>
</ul>
Minimum Qualifications:
<ul><li>Substantial Felony Trial Division or Special Victim&rsquo;s Bureau 2nd Chair or equivalent experience</li>

Position Description: The Multi-Jurisdiction Bureau is seeking a Deputy Supervisor in its Complex Narcotics Unit to direct felony Assistant State&rsquo;s Attorney&rsquo;s vertically prosecuting complex narcotic and gun related crimes. The Deputy Supervisor will work with ASAs to collaborate and build relationships with law enforcement departments at the local, state, and federal levels, and will coordinate with other prosecutors&rsquo; offices as appropriate, including the US Attorney&rsquo;s Office, the Illinois Attorney General, and collar county state&rsquo;s attorney&rsquo;s offices. The Deputy Supervisor will directly supervise ASAs working in a vertical prosecution model, evaluating evidence from investigations, making charging recommendations, indicting the cases before the grand jury, negotiating resolutions, preparing and executing bench and jury trials, and handling sentencing hearings.
Environment &amp; Reporting Structure: The ASA will report directly to the Supervisor of the Enhanced Drug and Gun Enforcement Division (EDGE), which falls under the Multi-Jurisdiction Bureau.
Duties/Requirements: The Deputy Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Supervisor of the Enhanced Drug and Gun Enforcement Division (EDGE) with the oversight of the Complex Narcotics Unit and must ensure that cases, from inception to disposition, are prosecuted fairly and handled properly, and that the ASAs are correctly trained in all aspects of their job.
The Deputy Supervisor is responsible for collaborating with the Supervisor to coordinate formal and informal training of the ASAs in conjunction with the CCSAO Director of Training and the Multi-Jurisdiction Bureau Chief and Deputy Bureau Chief and must engage in daily supervision, education and mentoring of the ASAs assigned to the Complex Narcotic Unit.
The Deputy Supervisor stands ready to consult with the Felony Review Unit and local, state, and federal law enforcement partners on investigations, and is involved with charging decisions made on various complex narcotics cases and other significant cases that will be prosecuted by the Complex Narcotics Unit.
The Deputy Supervisor must be aware of significant litigation handled by the Complex Narcotics Unit and will regularly consult with the Supervisor and the ASAs on those matters, when needed.
The Deputy Supervisor shall work with the Grants &amp; Development Unit to create grant programs for the Complex Narcotics Unit. The Deputy Supervisor is responsible for collecting data and drafting grant reports to demonstrate compliance with program objectives.
The Deputy Supervisor shall, whenever practical, accompany the Supervisor to meetings held with relevant law enforcement partners, and participate in law enforcement training sessions.
The Deputy Supervisor aids the Supervisor in all aspects of his/her duties, and shall be assigned additional responsibilities by the Supervisor as is necessary to carry out the work of the Complex Narcotics Unit.
The Deputy Supervisor is required to occasionally work First Appearance Court on weekends and or holidays. The Deputy Supervisor shall be an effective advocate and emissary of the mission, vision and values of the Cook County State&rsquo;s Attorney&rsquo;s Office both with ASAs as well as law enforcement and community partners.
Minimum Qualifications:
<ul><li>Must be able to manage the needs of attorneys, including caseload management, training, and supporting attorneys in pursing long-term development opportunities.</li>
<li>Must consistently observe and review the work of attorneys, both inside and outside of the courtroom, to offer productive feedback and motivate ongoing improvements.</li>
<li>Must demonstrate the ability to provide significant investigative support in complex investigations, including offering appropriate legal guidance to investigators.</li>

 ATTORNEY POSITION
 
 
 Economic Justice Program
 
 
 Chicago Lawyers&rsquo; Committee for Civil Rights, a nonprofit organization with a long and successful history of civil rights enforcement and advocacy, seeks an attorney to join our legal team and work to address systemic racism and advance economic opportunity, applying creative legal strategies through a community-driven advocacy model. The attorney will serve in the position as a Program Counsel or Senior Counsel depending on years of legal experience.
 
 
 
 About The Role
 
 
 
 The Program Counsel or Senior Counsel position is an exciting opportunity for an experienced
 
 
 attorney who can bring vision, talent, and enthusiasm to the role at a time when defense of
 
 
 nonprofits, investment and economic development in communities of color is needed more
 
 
 than ever. The attorney will assist organizations navigating the impact of recent federal administration actions that threaten the historic work of nonprofits in serving underrepresented communities.
 
 
 Candidates should have a strong commitment to community lawyering and be able to
 
 
 share examples of relationship building and collaboration with community-based partners. The attorney must demonstrate a passion for racial equity, community empowerment, and economic justice and possess the skills needed to be a successful advocate, as well as an effective project manager.
 
 
 The attorney will work substantially with our Economic Justice team to support nonprofit organizations and advocate for economic investment and resources for communities of color in the Chicagoland area. The attorney will report to the Director of the Economic Justice team. The attorney will also be expected to work as needed with colleagues to advance our work in other core practice areas, including fair housing, equitable community development, voting rights and education equity.
 
 
 
 Duties Include
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Provide brief consultations and extended legal services to nonprofits impacted or at risk of being impacted by federal government actions. Counsel may include evaluation of legal risks and liabilities and potential response options, including transactional legal services, administrative appeals, individual litigation, participation in strategic litigation, and legal representation in defense against enforcement actions.
 </li>

 Assist with identifying and providing legal content for a resource hub and obtaining
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 supplemental expertise and resources as needed.
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Provide training to nonprofits covering corporate governance compliance, executive orders, policies, and litigation developments.
 </li>
 <li>
 Build strong relationships with Chicago Lawyers&rsquo; Committee member law firms and pro
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 bono counsel through support, training and co-counseling opportunities on
 
 
 transactional legal assistance matters.
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Provide support to volunteer attorneys to deliver high quality legal assistance to eligible
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 nonprofits, small businesses, and social enterprises.
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Support client outreach strategies to expand service levels.
 </li>
 <li>
 Participate in significant partnerships, forums, speaking engagements and other
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 external activities to increase the organization&rsquo;s reach and profile on issues of economic
 
 
 justice and as a capacity-building technical assistance provider.
 
 
 <ul>

 Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with client groups, communities served, and
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 other strategic Community Partners for client referrals.
 
 
 <ul>

 Collaborate with colleagues to identify intersections and develop integrated advocacy

 </ul>
 approaches that advance racial equity and economic opportunity for the clients and
 
 
 communities we serve.
 
 
 
 Qualifications
 
 
 
 About You
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Law degree and admission to the Illinois Bar or eligible for admission by motion.
 </li>
 <li>
 5 years + experience of practice as an attorney, including 3 years + litigation experience.
 </li>
 <li>
 Excellent writing and public speaking skills.
 </li>
 <li>
 High degree of independence and ability to work autonomously.
 </li>
 <li>
 High degree of flexibility, ability to multi-task, and significant initiative.
 </li>
 <li>
 Strong analytical skills, attention to details and accuracy.
 </li>
 <li>
 Excellent people skills, especially the ability to communicate effectively with diverse
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>

 Additional Preferred Qualifications

 Experience with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts. Experience with government contracts.
 </li>
 <li>
 Familiarity with employment law, especially diversity, equity, and inclusion matters.
 </li>
 <li>
 Experience with advocacy around economic justice, including community investment and economic development.
 </li>
 <li>
 Experience working with community organizations, community development corporations, and/or economic development organizations.
 </li>
 <li>
 Demonstrated ability to develop strategic partnerships and enhance relationships across a wide variety of sectors.
 </li>
 <li>
 Bilingual in English and Spanish, including written skills.

 Salary and Benefits: Salary range is $70,000 - $90,000 per year depending on experience. Generous benefits include PTO and paid leave; health, dental, and vision plans; employer-provided life and disability insurance; and a retirement savings plan. Please note that we currently offer a flexible hybrid work arrangement, with a requirement of one day per week in the office on a designated anchor day along with the option to work up to 4 days remotely.
