Job Description
 
The U.S. Attorney's Office is currently seeking to fill Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) positions in the Civil Division. It is an opportunity to litigate a broad range of cases involving significant, complex issues on behalf of the United States in federal court. Working in the Civil Division, you will be part of a dedicated team helping to enforce federal civil laws that protect life, liberty, and property.
 
If selected, the individual will be working on immigration enforcement matters, issuing warrants, defending habeas corpus cases, seeking injunctions, defending asylum and passport cases and well as general civil litigation.

All initial attorney positions to the Department of Justice are made on a 14-month (temporary) basis.
 
This position is located in Houston, TX.
 
This is a Term position not-to-exceed March 31, 2028. This position may be extended or made permanent without further competition.

Security Requirements: Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory preemployment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. In addition, continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.

Salary
 
Assistant United States Attorney's pay is administratively determined based, in part, on the number of years of professional attorney experience. The range of basic pay is $85,270 to $195,100 which includes 35.00% locality pay.
