Primary Responsibilities:

Palo Alto: $131,750 &ndash; $178,250 per year.

Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell is looking for an experienced and highly motivated attorney to join her Antitrust Division as an Assistant Attorney General. The Attorney General&rsquo;s Antitrust Division protects the people, state agencies, and businesses of Massachusetts from anticompetitive practices and helps maintain and encourage a competitive and vibrant economy through fair and effective enforcement of the antitrust laws. The Antitrust Division investigates and challenges anticompetitive mergers, price-fixing agreements, and other illegal practices by companies, both local and national, that harm Massachusetts consumers and important state interests. Recent antitrust cases or matters brought by the Attorney General have involved, among other areas, airlines, online platforms/services, health care, communications, and pharmaceuticals. 
Primary Duties : The Assistant Attorney General will represent the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in investigations and litigation before state and federal courts and will be responsible for handling a substantial number of matters involving the enforcement of state and federal antitrust laws. Cases will cover a broad range of industries and will often pose complex and cutting-edge legal and economic issues. In addition to handling their own cases, the Assistant Attorney General will work with other attorneys, including, in some cases, attorneys from other states across the country and attorneys with the United States Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission. The Assistant Attorney General may be involved in policy development, including drafting or reviewing proposed legislation. 
 
Position Requirements :

Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell is seeking an exceptional and highly motivated attorney to join her management team as the Chief of the Southeastern Massachusetts Regional Office (SEMAS) located in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Employees of the SEMAS Office handle legal matters from various areas of the Attorney General&rsquo;s Office (AGO), including the Government, Public Protection, and Criminal Bureaus. The SEMAS Office also provides on-site assistance to residents with labor and consumer issues, including providing consumer mediation services, and serves as a regional hub for the implementation of AGO-wide priorities that involve community outreach, education and policy initiatives.
Primary Duties: The Chief of the SEMAS Office is responsible for the overall administration,
management, and direction of the regional office and for supervision of all its business. The Chief supervises and directs an office comprised of Assistant Attorneys General, civil investigators, inspectors, consumer mediators, community outreach coordinator, Massachusetts State Police and administrative staff; reviews and assigns SEMAS Office caseload; oversees case management and reporting requirements; assists in developing and implementing community education, training, and outreach programs; and is responsible for reporting on SEMAS Office activities to the Attorney General and her executive staff.
The Chief is also expected to handle a moderate caseload of litigation matters. The Chief works directly with Bureau Chiefs of the Attorney General&rsquo;s Office to coordinate substantive legal matters and cross-bureau initiatives as well as lead the efforts of SEMA staff to implement office-wide priorities and to respond to systemic concerns unique to the region. Because certain SEMA staff also report directly to division managers in Boston, including the Fair Labor, Consumer Protection, Constitutional and Administrative Law, Trial, Neighborhood Renewal, Civil Investigations, Consumer Advocacy and Response, and the Criminal Divisions, the Chief coordinates staff supervision with managers of those divisions. The Chief serves as the Office&rsquo;s liaison with local public officials and community organizations throughout the region.
