About the Role 
 
Primary Teaching Residents commit to teaching for a minimum of three years in Washington, D.C. Residents spend the first year of this commitment &ndash; their residency year &ndash; training in an anchor classroom with a highly effective lead teacher to develop teaching skills and confidence. Early Childhood residents train in a PreK or Kindergarten classroom, while Elementary residents train in 1st through 4th grade classrooms. This is an exempt position and will report to their school&rsquo;s principal. 
Location and Type of Work
Location: We have six early childhood schools and six elementary schools in DC looking for excellent teachers to join their team.
Work Hours: While students receive instruction from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm, KIPP DC teachers are on duty in school Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm two times a week, and 7:30 am to 4:00 pm three times a week.
Primary Teaching Residents will also be required to attend in-person CTR professional development classes starting with summer professional development in July and continuing in the school year on Wednesday evenings after school hours. This professional development is required for certification.
Additional responsibilities may arise during the school year. This could include but not limited to: attending staff and student field trips, open houses, family-teacher conferences and other events involving parents and students as needed. We will communicate them to all employees with as much notice and flexibility as possible.

Following the residency year, residents who successfully complete the program are eligible to interview for roles with competitive pay including senior resident ($57,200) and lead teacher at KIPP DC (starts at $65,500 - salary scale here), or lead teacher roles at partner public charter schools.</li><li>
KIPP DC offers a robust benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurances; various voluntary benefits; and employer paid benefits such as short term disability, long term disability, life insurance, and a membership to One Medical.</li><li>

We&rsquo;re looking for someone with strong legal research capabilities, a detail-oriented mindset, and the organizational savvy to support legal and programmatic functions at the highest level.
What You'll Do
As a Senior Paralegal, you'll play a key role in supporting legal program areas across a wide range of activities &mdash; from legal research to event coordination. Your work will help ensure legal processes run smoothly, and that training, documentation, and administrative systems are sharp, clear, and effective.
Core Responsibilities
Legal Program Support<ul><li>
Conduct legal research using legal databases and public information tools</li><li>
Draft, edit, and prepare legal documentation, exhibits, charts, and memoranda</li><li>
Assist attorneys and federal personnel in meetings and consultations</li><li>
Develop training content and materials for events, webinars, and conferences</li><li>
Track and manage surveys, evaluations, and responses</li><li>
Coordinate responses with US Attorneys for Congressional Inquiries</li></ul>
Administrative &amp; Operational Support<ul><li>
Handle scheduling, calendar management, document control, and travel coordination</li><li>
Record meeting minutes and assist with document collection and file preparation</li><li>
Input and analyze data using databases, spreadsheets, and SharePoint</li><li>
Vet and respond to internal and external inquiries by phone and email</li><li>
Create and distribute electronic Newsletter.</li></ul>
Event &amp; Training Coordination<ul><li>
Coordinate with subject matter experts and speakers for legal trainings/events</li><li>
Manage logistics: schedule invites, reserve venues, and ensure technology is working</li><li>
Maintain accurate training records and draft promotional materials</li><li>
Attend and support training sessions and webinars as needed</li></ul>
What You Bring
Required Qualifications<ul><li>
Bachelor's degree</li><li>
Minimum 5 years of paralegal experience 
(A Master's degree may substitute for work experience)</li><li>
Possess the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance (Federal 5C). Requirements are as follows:<ul><li>
Must NOT be in default on any Federal Student Loans or defaulted loans that are guaranteed by the federal government (typically 270 days past due)</li><li>
Must be a US Citizen</li><li>
Felonies or misdemeanors within the last 7 years could cause an issue in obtaining a security clearance</li><li>
Applicants who have monies in non-medical Collections exceeding $7,500 could also cause an issue in obtaining the required security clearance.</li></ul></li></ul> 
Preferred<ul><li>
Juris Doctor (JD) or Paralegal Certificate 
(Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of certification)</li></ul>
