 The Ramadi Lab for Advanced Neuroengineering and Translational Medicine develops innovative approaches for the modulation of neural activity throughout the body. We combine mechanical, electrical, materials, and bio-engineering toolkits towards designing minimally invasive technologies for neuromodulation. Our projects are translational in nature and are focused on addressing a specific need in clinical care. Our goal is to develop novel diagnostics and therapies for neurologic, metabolic, and immune disorders using technologies such as implantable microdevices, nanoparticles, and electroceuticals.

 The Postdoctoral associate will be able to design and develop ingestible devices to interrogate contents of the gastrointestinal tract. The collaborative research will be large-scale analyses of digital traces (e.g., Yelp, Airbnb, Stack Exchange) and virtual lab experiments to study how ingroup favoritism and group boundaries coevolve in multiplex communities; how attribute- and opinion-based cues shape insider/outsider categorization, intergroup relations, and social cohesion; and how to design interventions that promote inclusivity, fairness, and productive discourse online.

 NYUAD Water Research Center at New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a research scientist to work on the development of membrane desalination to treat water from the Arabian Gulf feed sources and on the design and scale-up of low energy membranes for water purification, under the supervision of Professor Nidal Hilal, Director of the Water Research Center and Global Professor of Engineering.

 The successful applicant will drive an exciting project on developing functional membrane materials, including nanostructured polymer membranes tailored to microfiltration, ultrafiltration, membrane distillation, nanofiltration and reverse osmosis. The candidate will employ advanced membrane fabrication techniques and characterization tools (SEM, TEM, DSC, TGA, BET, etc.) to establish fabrication-structure-property-performance relationships in novel materials for sustainable desalination and water treatment.
