Postdoctoral Fellow 2

<div><p>A Post-Doctoral Fellow position is available in Dr. Chih-Chi Andrew Hu&rsquo;s laboratory with a research focus on Immune Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Drug Discovery. This position focuses on the study of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-associated stress signaling molecules and their roles in survival, metastasis and chemoresistance of cancer. A key component of this effort is the identification and development of small molecules and peptides targeting the ER stress response pathways for the treatment of cancer. We are especially interested in candidates who are in the final stage of their doctoral training and have a strong background in protein chemistry (molecular cloning and column chromatography) and in the development of new biochemical assays during doctoral training. Applicants with experience in structural and chemical biology are desirable. Research areas of interest include cancer prevention and control, cancer health disparities, physical activity promotion, community engaged research, and implementation science.

The position is at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in the Health Disparities Research Department (HDR) of the Division of Cancer Prevention &amp; Population Sciences in Houston, TX. Under the mentorship of Dr. Scherezade Mama, the fellow will engage in cutting-edge research aimed at understanding and addressing health disparities in cancer prevention, treatment, and survivorship. The fellow will be an integral part of an interdisciplinary research team and will contribute to various aspects of the research process, including but not limited to study design, participant recruitment and retention, data collection and analysis, community engagement, and dissemination of findings through publications and presentations at national and international scientific meetings and local and regional community events.<br>
This fellowship offers a unique opportunity for the fellow to develop their own research agenda related to health disparities research and cancer prevention and control, with access to extensive resources and support from MD Anderson. The fellow will have the potential to leverage existing funding to apply for additional grants and supplements.<br>

<b>LEARNING OBJECTIVES</b><br>

The Dileep Laboratory at the Huffington Center on Aging, Baylor College of Medicine investigates the genomic and epigenomic drivers of brain aging and age-related neurological diseases such as Alzheimer&rsquo;s disease. A particular interest is in the role of DNA damage in neurological dysfunction, including drug and radiation-induced DNA damage in cancer treatment. We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow with training in the area of chromatin biology and/or neuroscience to investigate chromatin regulation in brain aging and neurological dysfunction. The candidate is expected to:<br>

<ul><li>Apply clean-lab chemical preparation and thermal-ionization mass spectrometry (TIMS) techniques to the measurement of stable and radiogenic isotope ratios across a wide variety of natural and experimental samples and

</li><li>Lead in the development and submission of high-quality research manuscripts and develop competitive grant-writing skills through the submission of grant applications to Federal agencies.
