Senior Project Manager

Family-owned and Chicago-based, Reed Construction has been a leader in the industry for over 130 years. We&rsquo;re seeking an experienced and driven <b>Senior Project Manager (SPM)</b> to lead custom home design/build and commercial projects from pre-construction through closeout. As a key member of the project management team, you&rsquo;ll be responsible for delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while building strong client relationships and ensuring exceptional outcomes. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and client service.</p>
<p></p><p><b>Key Responsibilities:</b> (include but are not limited to:</p>
<p><b>Project Ownership</b></p>
<ul><li>Take full ownership of project outcomes&mdash;responsible for scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client satisfaction from preconstruction through closeout.</li>
<li>Lead the development and execution of estimates, schedules, GMPs, and contract documents with accuracy and clarity.</li>
<li>Negotiate and execute contracts and scopes of work with owners, subcontractors, and vendors; ensure alignment with project goals.</li>
<li>Drive financial performance through proactive cost management, forecasting, change order oversight, and timely billing.</li>
<li>Ensure full team alignment by clearly defining roles, responsibilities, and expectations across all phases of the project.</li>
<li>Anticipate risks, identify long-lead items, and implement proactive solutions to maintain project momentum.</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Team &amp; Field Collaboration</b></p>
<ul><li>Partner closely with field supervision to ensure quality standards, safety compliance, and efficient workflows.</li>
<li>Foster accountability and visibility across the project team; maintain regular, effective communication.</li>
<li>Handle multiple projects concurrently at various stages and locations.</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Client Service &amp; Business Development</b></p>
<ul><li>Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, consultants, and subcontractors.</li>
<li>Represent Reed at industry events, client meetings, and networking functions.</li>
<li>Collaborate with the Marketing &amp; Sales team on RFP strategies and pursuit efforts.</li>
<li>Identify repeat business and new opportunities through outstanding project execution.</li>
</ul>
<p></p><p><b>Minimum Qualifications:</b> The following qualifications are representative of the knowledge, education, skill, and/or ability that is needed of an individual to perform this job successfully.</p>
<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, related field or equivalent relevant experience</li>
<li>Minimum <b>8+ years</b> of project management with experience in <b>custom residential and commercial </b>construction.</li>
<li>Proven ability to lead complex, high-end residential and commercial projects with strong financial outcomes.</li>
<li>Excellent communication, leadership, negotiation, and client presentation skills.</li>
<li>Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; able to anticipate challenges and drive solutions.</li>
<li>Highly organized, detail-oriented, and responsive.</li>
<li>Proficient in <b>On-Screen Takeoff</b>, <b>Sage/Timberline</b>, and <b>Microsoft Project</b>.</li>
