The City of Danbury is now hiring a Seasonal Airport Maintainer for the Summer 2026 season.The City of Danbury is seeking a Seasonal Maintainer to support the upkeep and general maintenance of City Danbury Municipal Airport grounds. This position performs a variety of semi-skilled manual labor tasks related to landscaping and grounds keeping.Work is performed under the supervision of a higher-level employee, with many tasks becoming routine after initial training. This position requires the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and to perform physically demanding tasks on a consistent basis. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesMaintain airport groundsPerform landscaping tasks such as mowing, trimming, raking, planting, watering, and pruning trees and shrubsOperate and maintain light and medium-duty equipment, including mowers, tractors, blowers, rakes, and weedwhacker Perform minor maintenance and basic repairs to tools and equipmentFollow all safety procedures and report hazards, damages, or unsafe conditionsPerform related duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsMust be at least 18 years of ageAbility to perform manual labor and work outdoors in varying weather conditionsBasic knowledge of grounds keeping tools, equipment, and safety practices preferredAbility to operate or learn to operate light equipment and vehiclesKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a teamStrong work ethic and reliabilityBasic mechanical aptitude for equipment use and maintenanceAwareness of workplace safety practicesAbility to complete repetitive tasks efficiently and accuratelyPhysical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation: Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and reachingFrequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of materials up to 50 pounds; occasional lifting up to 100 pounds with assistanceAbility to operate equipment and tools requiring manual dexterityAbility to work for extended periods outdoors in heat, cold, humidity, or inclement weatherWork EnvironmentWork is performed primarily outdoors in the municipal airport settingExposure to weather conditions, noise from equipment, and environmental elements such as dust, grass, and debrisMay involve working near active recreational areas and interacting with the public
