Seasonal Laborer - Public Works

The City of Groton Public Works Department is seeking hardworking and dependable individuals to join our team for the 2026 summer season. This is a great opportunity to work outdoors, support your community, and gain experience in municipal operations.

Seasonal employment runs for a duration of no more than 120 consecutive days. We are seeking candidates available to work between May and September 2026.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

• Perform sanitation and recycling gathering
• Perform landscape assignments
• Wash-down and cleaning of fleet vehicles and equipment
• Custodial duties for Highway facility

Successful candidates must have the ability work in a team environment, communicate well with other team members, lift 75 lbs. and be able to work on their feet in all weather conditions. Candidates must be 18 years of age and posses a driver license to operate a motor vehicle.

The City is committed to providing a safe work environment to all employees; successful candidates will receive pre-job training and provided Proper Protective Equipment.

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Experience:

• Collecting rubbish, recyclables and bulky waste: 1 year (Preferred)
• General maintenance of streets/sidewalks/public grounds: 1 year (Preferred)
• Operating outdoor equipment & power tools: 1 year (Preferred)
