Overview

Con Edison Supply Chain is seeking a multi-talented Section Manager to lead its Supply Chain Indirect Operational Services Procurement Team. The Section Manager will lead a team that primarily supports procurement activities for Facilities Services and Operations Services. Two Senior Procurement Leads report to the Section Manager and each lead a team comprised of a combination of Senior Procurement Specialists, Procurement Specialists, and Business Associates all reporting to the Senior Procurement Lead. This team sources, manages, renews, and optimizes a portfolio of services contracts that deliver consistent +1 Customer Experiences, process efficiencies, and measurable cost savings to internal customers in Facilities & Field Services and various departments in Electric, Gas, Central, and Customer Operations.The Section Manager will manage relationships with multiple stakeholders, including internal customers, suppliers, Supply Chain peers, and peers in assurance function. People- and results-orientation are equally important in this role, with focus on safety, compliance, and workplace culture.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Safety: Ensure employee, customer, public, and site safety are always considered in procurement strategy, and contribute proactively to maintaining Companys safety-focused culture, including through purposeful field visits with team.
  • Compliance: Maintain rigorous adherence to Company policies & procedures governing procurement.
  • Strategic Thinking: Conceptualize multiple pathways to deliver on internal customers procurement needs before the needs emerge downstream.
  • Business Partner: Motivate and coach internal customers to think proactively about their procurement needs, assisting them in crafting scopes of work that are fit for purpose.
  • Data-Driven: Collect, parse, and analyze relevant datasets to drive informed decision-making at the outset of the procurement journey.
  • Agile: Seek and apply real-time feedback from internal customers and suppliers to adjust procurement strategies for improved procurement outcomes.
  • Cost-Consciousness: Deliver cost savings for internal customers through procurement outcomes.
  • Problem-Solving: Address issues that arise with vendors constructively to ensure continuity of business operations and compliance with policies & procedures.
  • Risk Mitigation: Incorporate Third-Party Risk Management data in contract negotiations to mitigate risks and lower total cost of ownership.
  • Leadership and Coaching: Teach team members by example and through proactive coaching and mentoring to drive performance improvement. Build a cohesive, high performing team to meet deadlines and deliver on initiatives.
  • Inclusive: Solicit and consider the perspectives of team members while also respectfully questioning their assumptions.
  • Inspiring: Motivate and coach internal customers to think proactively about their procurement needs, assisting them in crafting scopes of work that are fit for purpose.
  • Use of Technology: Use Company-approved applications or leverage new technology to create and unlock efficiencies and reduce procurement cycle time.
  • Diversity: Increase diverse supplier spend in key procurement categories.
  • Sustainability: Seek vendors commitment to Con Edisons sustainability principles and practices.
  • Scribing: Use Microsoft Teams to document the teams journey and how team members work together.
  • Scaling: Do more of what works well and socialize best practices within team.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or an equivalent field and 8+ years of relevant work experience.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Minimum of eight years of relevant work experience - Required
  • Three or more years of proven experience managing people and teams - Required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 - Required
  • Demonstrates proficiency in Oracle EBS, possesses extensive project management experience, and consistently exhibits strong leadership skills - Required
  • Supply Chain experience at operations level - Preferred
  • Experience using Agile, Scrum, or Rapid Results in project management or product development - Preferred
  • Knowledge of the procurement process - Preferred

Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory and meet with suppliers as needed.
