Security Device Engineer

JOB PURPOSE:

The Security Device Engineer is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and lifecycle management of security device systems across Cairo Metro Line 3 facilities. The role includes diagnosing faults, repairing and calibrating systems, replacing components, and implementing preventive and corrective maintenance programs. The position requires autonomy, technical expertise, and adherence to health and safety standards to ensure the optimal performance of all security systems, particularly within the Depot Workshop.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

General Maintenance & Operations

• Perform all levels of preventive and corrective maintenance and minor modifications within stations.
• Maintain tools and equipment in safe and optimal condition.
• Inspect facilities and repair systems to ensure compliance with operational standards.
• Service, calibrate, adjust, and repair security device systems, including warranty-related services.
• Supervise subcontractors closely to ensure adherence to preventive maintenance schedules.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot faults in security device systems and equipment.
• Respond promptly to malfunctions through corrective and emergency repairs.
• Manage and troubleshoot baggage scanner device software, ensuring regular updates.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams for baggage scanner devices to identify and resolve faults.
• Handle spare parts for baggage scanners, ensuring correct installation, dismantling, and safe usage.
• Perform other duties as assigned and remain available for after-hours work when required.

Maximo & Documentation

• Conduct preventive maintenance as outlined in manuals and procedures, recording tasks in Maximo.
• Maintain accurate daily logs, records of maintenance activities, and system updates in Maximo.
• Ensure timely documentation of faults, corrective actions, and parts usage.
• Support in generating reports from Maximo for monitoring performance and planning future maintenance.

Safety & Compliance

• Adhere strictly to all safety standards, protocols, and operating procedures.
• Stay informed and apply precautionary measures in the event of X-ray leaks from devices.
• Follow operational and maintenance safety standards for X-ray and other security devices.
• Ensure compliance with appliance standards and Health & Safety Act regulations.
• Prioritize safety and environmental considerations in all tasks, promptly reporting any hazards or incidents.
• Assist with budget preparation and compliance, ensuring alignment with safety requirements.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• Fluent in English and Arabic, French is a plus.

Knowledge

• General technical knowledge in electromechanical systems.
• Team management skills.
• Familiarity with Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) systems such as Maximo.
• Railway industry knowledge (optional but desirable).
• Familiarity with improvement and quality management methods.

Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in security device maintenance (preferably with Astrophysics, VMI, and Garret systems).
• Experience in change management and implementing cultural transformation.
