Seasonal Grounds Technician of the Hideaway RV Park and Soaring Eagle Hideaway RV Park


Position Summary:

The Grounds Maintenance Technician I will be responsible for the oversight and completion of mowing and trimming of lawns and general upkeep of general areas to ensure quality, cleanliness, guest satisfaction, safety and security standards are achieved and maintained as established by the Soaring Eagle Waterpark & Hotel. Although the Soaring Eagle Water Park & Hotel is an enterprise of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan, it operates under the Migizi Economic Development Company Policies and Procedures.


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Clean and maintain the hotel exterior including swimming pool, parking lot, and all other aspects pertaining to the hotel overall landscape and curb appeal, including snow removal and shovel/salt walkways and general public areas.
  • Maintain all garden and pond attractions.
  • Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing and removing thatch, as well as trimming and edging around beds.
  • Water lawns, trees, and plants using portable sprinkler systems, hoses, or watering cans.
  • Mix and apply fertilizers, herbicides, and/or insecticides onto affected areas using hand or automatic sprayers and spreaders.
  • Operate powered equipment such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, snow blowers, chainsaws, electric clippers, sod cutters, etc. to accomplish tasks.
  • Protect company assets by properly securing tools, equipment, and supplies. Inspects and maintains equipment and tools used by crew upon completion of tasks or projects.
  • Report requests for major repairs to the Director of Facilities and/or Pool Operator in accordance with waterpark & hotel procedures.
  • Respond to guest requests for immediate repairs.
  • Perform work duties in accordance with SEWPH Safety and Security Policies & Procedures as well as in accordance with posted OSHA, HazMat, and Blood Borne Pathogen regulations.
  • Report and store lost and found items in accordance with SEWPH procedures.
  • Ensures that all equipment is functioning properly and that preventative maintenance measures are performed to preserve the hotel and keep product quality to standards established by the Soaring Eagle Waterpark & Hotel.
  • Monitors mechanical, electrical, and water usages to ensure effective energy management.
  • Responds in a courteous manner to guest questions, complaints and/or requests to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Environment/Safety Hazards:

Standard: A significant portion of the workday is spent lifting, moving, climbing, crawling, and holding. Carrying and/or lifting items that weigh approximately 100 lbs. Pushing and/or pulling objects that weigh approximately 300 lbs. occur at times. Reading and writing abilities are utilized in order to document or record all tasks completed, order supplies, receive instructions for the day, or to read equipment repair manuals. Problem solving and reasoning abilities are utilized occasionally. Mathematical abilities, including basic math, volume, weight, and percentages are utilized a significant portion of the time. Must work with chemicals, deliveries, storage and handling, MSDS sheets, Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), and lifting of chemicals and sand. May experience exposure to water and vaporized chemicals and blood-borne spills caused by illnesses or injuries.


Minimum Qualifications:

Required:

  • 18 years of age.
  • One (1) year of experience in maintenance or landscaping capacity.
  • Pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Preferred:

  • Native American.
