The school presently caters for pupils from Pre-KG to Year 11 and will grow year on year to become a 3-18 through school. Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management: Lead and manage the school's Special Educational Needs (SEN) provision, ensuring effective support for students with diverse learning needs.

Policy Development: Develop, implement, and review SEN policies and procedures in line with current educational standards and best practices.

Staff Training: Provide training and professional development for staff on SEN-related topics to enhance their understanding and teaching strategies.

Student Assessment: Oversee the identification and assessment of students with SEN, ensuring appropriate interventions and support plans are in place.

Parental Engagement: Maintain effective communication with parents and guardians regarding their child's progress and support needs.

Collaboration: Work closely with external agencies and specialists to provide comprehensive support for students with SEN.

Educational Background: A recognized teaching qualification and a postgraduate qualification in Special Educational Needs or a related field.
- Experience: Proven experience in a SENCO role within an international or British curriculum school setting.
Skills:

Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.

Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to foster good behaviour and build good relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise effectively.
- A clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and/or police check.

High level of IT skills with experience in using Google Workspace, Zoom, Gmail, shared drives, etc as well as IT tools to record observations and assessment.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of SEN legislation, policies, and best practices. Familiarity with the British curriculum is advantageous.

Established in 2005, Gulf British Academy is an independent, co-educational, BSO, BSME and COBIS accredited school.

The new school building provides a modern learning environment, including spacious classrooms, a swimming pool, a large hall/theatre and cinema, indoor and outdoor sport facilities, science labs, design and technology areas, ICT rooms, play areas, and a teaching kitchen.

Curriculum
We work closely within the national curriculum for England to deliver creative and interactive programmes that develop our academic curriculum, pastoral care system and extra-curricular activities to ensure our children are happy and enjoy coming to school. This includes a house system, as well as Philosophy for Children and Growth Mindset initiatives. We also embrace Islamic culture and values through Arabic Language, Islamic and Quran studies in accordance with the guidelines of the Kuwait Ministry of Education.
