Job Purpose:
To ensure accurate accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and effective monitoring of all financial transactions in line with microfinance industry practices, company policies, and regulatory requirements. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in maintaining transparency, accountability, and financial discipline within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Accounting & Financial Management
- Maintain day-to-day accounting records, including cash, bank, loan transactions, and branch-level financial data.
- Review and verify branch accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
- Monitor disbursement, repayment, and outstanding reports to ensure alignment with microfinance operations.
2. Budgeting & MIS Reporting
- Assist in preparing annual budgets and forecasts.
- Consolidate branch-level financial data and prepare MIS reports for management review.
- Analyze variances between actual performance and budgeted figures and provide explanations.
3. Compliance & Audit
- Ensure statutory compliance related to Income Tax, GST, PF, ESI, TDS, and other regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors, provide necessary data, and implement audit recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with RBI/NABARD/MFI regulations and company policies.
4. Treasury & Fund Management
- Monitor fund utilization at branch and head office levels.
- Manage cash flows, loan repayments to lenders, and bank reconciliations.
- Support in raising funds, loan documentation, and lender compliance.
5. Team Support & Supervision
- Guide and supervise junior accountants and branch-level accounts staff.
- Conduct periodic training for field and branch staff on financial processes and policies.
- Ensure timely submission of branch accounts and support branches in resolving financial discrepancies.
Skills & Competencies Required:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial management, and statutory compliance.
- Experience in Microfinance/NBFC-MFI sector preferred.
- Proficiency in accounting software (Tally ERP, MS Excel, MIS tools).
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
Qualification & Experience:
- Education: M.Com / MBA (Finance) / CA (Inter) or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of accounting experience, with at least 1 year in Microfinance/Banking/NBFC sector.
