Core Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
- Prepare reports and presentations for management, highlighting key financial performance indicators.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
- Accounting Operations:
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Ensure proper documentation and reconciliation of transactions.
- Process and reconcile bank statements.
- Manage payroll processes.
- Tax Compliance:
- Prepare and file tax returns, including GST returns (GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B).
- Handle TDS and TCS compliance.
- Stay updated with changes in tax regulations and compliance requirements.
- Auditing:
- Assist with internal and external audits.
- Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation.
- Supervision (Potentially):
- Supervise and mentor junior accountants.
- Train staff on accounting policies and procedures.
- Other Responsibilities:
- Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts.
- Maintain the general ledger.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Participate in cross-functional projects.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience: 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the retail industry.
- Certifications: CPA or CMA preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
Retail Industry Specifics:
- Understanding of Retail Financials: Knowledge of retail-specific accounting practices, such as inventory management, pricing strategies, and sales analysis.
- E-commerce Experience: Experience with e-commerce financial processes is a plus.
- Inventory Management: Understanding of inventory accounting and control procedures.
- Point-of-Sale (POS) Systems: Familiarity with POS systems and their impact on financial reporting.
