Senior Accountant

Summary of Position

The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate financial records through timely reconciliation, reporting, and compliance with accounting standards. This role supports month-end close, processes payroll, assists with budgeting and forecasting, and maintains key accounts. The Senior Accountant also liaises with auditors, safeguards sensitive data, and delivers financial insights to support leadership decisions.


Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review and record all incoming invoices into the accounting system and deposit all payments.
  • Review and reconcile financial accounts, ensuring all incoming revenue and outgoing expenses have been tracked and recorded properly, including:
    • Accounts Payable
    • Accounts Receivable
    • Credit Card activity
    • Bank accounts
  • Generate financial statements.
    • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
    • Maintain, track and generate monthly income statement, balance sheet and cashflow statements and review with Supervisor.
  • Assist with preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
    • Collaborate with Supervisor to maintain accurate business development pipeline report and incorporate into financial forecasts.
  • Process and review payroll.
    • Ensure all payroll and taxes (including proper state income taxes)/withholding are executed timely and accurately.
  • Assist with month-end close process, ensuring adherence to established closing timelines.
  • Support revenue accounting, in coordination with Supervisor.
  • Liaise with external auditors by addressing outstanding requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Generate ad-hoc financial reports to support business leader needs and decision-making.
  • Ensure security, integrity and confidentiality of data.

Occasional Duties & Responsibilities

  • Travel to company headquarters for team meetings or strategic planning sessions.
  • Participate in professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Provide support across various functions and contributing to tasks outside of primary responsibilities as needed to support team objectives.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Ability to remain seated for extended periods while performing desk-based tasks.
  • Ability to use a computer and related office equipment (keyboard, mouse, phone, etc.) for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds for occasional office tasks (e.g., moving files, setting up equipment, etc.).
  • Ability to occasionally walk, bend, or stoop to access files or office equipment.
  • Good vision and manual dexterity to handle paperwork, documents, and office technology.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, via phone, and in writing with colleagues and clients.

Educational and/or Experience Requirements

  • BS degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA certification or equivalent preferred.)
  • Proven working experience as an Accountant. Minimum of 3 years.
  • Understanding of accounting principles and Financial Reporting Standards (GAAP).
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, with the ability to analyze data effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively.
  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Should possess strong organizational and planning skills to be successful in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven experience working with external auditors.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce clear, actionable ad-hoc reports.
  • High degree of ethics and discretion in handling sensitive financial data.
