Senior Accountant

A leading, national insurance corporation is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their tea on a direct hire basis. This role will play a key part in the monthly close process, financial reporting, and consolidation of multiple entities. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in GAAP accounting, hands-on experience within the insurance industry, and a working knowledge of statutory (STAT) reporting requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and execute the full-cycle monthly, quarterly, and annual close process in accordance with GAAP
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
• Manage multi-entity consolidations, including elimination entries and intercompany transactions
• Oversee and reconcile intercompany accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of variances
• Support preparation of statutory financial statements and regulatory filings in compliance with NAIC requirements
• Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, actuarial, and operations teams to support financial reporting and analysis
• Assist with external audits and coordinate with auditors on GAAP and statutory reporting matters
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and strengthen internal controls
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and regulatory guidelines

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA strongly preferred)
• 2+ years of accounting experience, with direct experience in the insurance industry required
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP
• Proven experience with financial consolidations and intercompany accounting
• Experience preparing or supporting NAIC filings and statutory reporting highly preferred
• Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
• Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
