Senior Accountant

Position Title: Senior Accountant

Department: Accounting

Location: Fenton, MO

Reports To: Controller

Classification: Exempt

Position Summary:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the company's monthly close process, financial reporting, cost analysis, audit support, and key operational accounting activities. This role is ideal for a highly motivated individual with 3–5 years of public or corporate accounting experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast growing, acquisition focused environment. The Senior Accountant will work closely with the Controller, CFO, and operational teams to ensure accurate financial results and process improvements across the organization.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Lead and support components of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and variance analyses.
  • Assist in the preparation of internal financial statements and management reporting packages.
  • Support annual financial statement audit by preparing schedules, gathering requested documentation, and working directly with external auditors.
  • Assist with the annual 401(k) plan audit, including data gathering, reconciliations, and compliance testing support.
  • Perform cost and margin analysis, including standard cost reviews, manufacturing variances, and product profitability insights.
  • Participate in inventory management activities, including inventory reconciliations, valuation testing, and analysis of obsolete or slow-moving inventory.
  • Maintain and improve accounting processes, internal controls, and month end close procedures.
  • Assist with integrations related to acquisitions, including system migrations, opening balance sheet support, process alignment, and policy implementation.
  • Prepare and analyze balance sheet account roll forwards and ensure proper documentation supporting each account.
  • Work with operational teams (Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing) to understand business drivers and support cross functional initiatives.
  • Support cash flow analysis, forecasting, and working capital initiatives.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining company accounting policies and documentation.
  • Perform other accounting and finance projects as needed in a dynamic, high growth environment.

Required Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

(CPA preferred, not required)

Required Experience/Skills:

  • 3–5 years of public or corporate accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and internal controls.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to identify, research, and resolve accounting issues.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and professionally.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments.

Desired Experience/Skills:

  • Experience with manufacturing or cost accounting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with inventory management processes.
  • Experience supporting financial statement audits and 401(k) audits.
  • Experience assisting with ERP implementations, system integrations, or post-acquisition accounting work.
  • Advanced Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables, basic modeling).
