Summary:
- The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing accurate financial statements, managing month-end and year-end closings, and ensuring compliance with GAAP. Approximately 20% of the role will focus on FP&A activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, providing strategic insights to management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing procedures to produce accurate financial statements.
- Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls; support annual audit and liaise with external auditors
- Maintain and analyze general ledger activity for multiple entities or business units
- Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets and forecasts
- Conduct variance and trend analysis to support strategic business decisions
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial accuracy and timely reporting
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and internal controls enhancement
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist in tax-related reporting when necessary
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- In depth understanding of US GAAP and accounting procedures.
- Strong proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPS).
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
- Strong time management and organizational skills
Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- CPA certification is preferred.
- At least one year of experience in public accounting (Big 4 or large regional firm preferred)
- Exposure to FP&A functions such as budgeting and forecasting
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP, or similar)
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
