Senior Accountant (Manufacturing Industry)

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. Job Summary:

The Senior Accountant assists the CFO in managing the company’s financial resources; developing, implementing, and executing accounting policies & procedures; financial reporting; and regulatory compliance. This role requires a proactive and flexible individual who is a self-starter who is always looking for process improvement opportunities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Work with CFO to develop key metrics to monitor performance and report to senior management.

2. Provide support to personnel in accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, human resources, IT, and operations.

3. Assist in the maintenance of Canopy financial statement templates to ensure timely and accurate reporting to management.

4. Maintain general ledger account mapping in Paycom payroll system and prepare weekly/bi-weekly payroll entries.

5. Assist in the development and/or improvement of financial and operational reporting processes.

6. Work with accounts payable to ensure proper tracking, reporting and remittance of sales & use tax for each applicable jurisdiction.

7. Manage information in Canopy as needed.

8. Work with CFO to prepare and update financial budgets and forecasts.

9. Maintain records of fixed assets, including acquisitions, depreciation, and disposals.

10. Collecting and analyzing data about a company’s operational costs

11. Develop standard costs and bills of material for manufactured goods – including daily meetings with inventory personnel.

12. Developing and analyzing cost standards

13. Carrying out cost-volume-profit (CVP) analysis

14. Establishing costs of business processes such as administration, labor, shipping, etc.

15. Performing account reconciliations

16. Preparing audit reports and presenting their findings to management

17. Recommend changes to the company’s processes and policies to reduce cost and maximize profit

18. Managing the company’s balance sheet and accounting books

19. Supporting other company accounting personnel with invoicing and capital expenditure

20. Ad hoc reporting, as required.

21. Projects as developed and assigned by CFO.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provides financial reports, analysis, and documentation to CFO and other senior leaders as required.

2. Provide support to external auditors of financial statements and 401(k) plan, yearend outside audit, bank auditors and tax compliance consultants.

3. Request inventory cycle counts and review results.

4. Observe period end physical inventories as needed.

5. Other various duties as assigned.

Job Requirements (Education, Work Experience, Certifications, Skills):

BS/BA degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, CPA a plus with 3-5 years’ experience in a for profit company finance & accounting environment in a Staff Accountant or Senior Accountant role. Experience in the food manufacturing industry a bit plus Must have solid experience in analysis and a strong knowledge of GAAP. Strong communication, organizational, accounting platform and analytical skills. Proficient in the use of MS Office tools – intermediary level of Excel. Experience with Aspen-Systems Canopy ERP a plus.

Pay: From $85,000.00 per year
