Senior Accounts Executive

Job Summary

The Senior Accounts Executive is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily accounting operations of the organisation. The role includes maintaining financial records, preparing financial reports, supervising junior accounting staff, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and supporting management in financial planning and decision-making. The position requires strong analytical skills, accuracy, and a deep understanding of accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Accounting

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in the accounting system.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Monitor general ledger accounts and ensure proper recording of transactions.
  • Ensure timely reconciliation of bank accounts, vendor accounts, and customer accounts.
  • Review journal entries, adjustments, and ledger postings.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and ensure timely collections.
  • Verify vendor invoices and ensure accurate processing of payments.
  • Maintain aging reports and follow up with customers regarding overdue payments.

Expenses Monitoring

  • Monitor company expenses and ensure proper documentation.
  • Verify employee expense claims and reimbursements.

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare management reports including cash flow reports, expense analysis, and budget reports.
  • Assist management in financial forecasting and budgeting.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to improve business performance.

Compliance & Audit

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and financial regulations.
  • Assist in internal and external audits.
  • Maintain proper documentation and records for audit purposes.

Tax Compliance

  • Assist in preparation of tax filings and statutory returns.
  • Ensure compliance with local tax regulations and company policies.

Team Supervision

  • Supervise and guide junior accounting staff.
  • Review work performed by accounting assistants and executives.
  • Provide training and support to finance team members.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting procedures and internal controls.
  • Implement efficient accounting practices to enhance financial management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Professional certification (ACCA, CA Inter, CMA, etc.) is an advantage.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.

Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
  • Experience with accounting systems and financial reporting is preferred.
